Horrible for MTL... Still, any of those team are doing this. Suzuki is better than Cozens and Danault is one of the most underrated C in the league... We don't need another unidimensional player in Ehlers. We have the greatest C depth in years and you trade two of them away? Zero sense

Feels like WPG might be not giving up enough. IMO

Each teams main player:

Danault
Risto 1.5 ret
Ehlers

Each teams main prospect:

Cozens
Suzuki
Heinola

Each teams extra added:

WPG 2nd
MTL 1st + Lehkonen
BUF nothing

MTL adding Lehkonen on top of a 1st is too much IMO, WPG extra piece needs to be more than a 2nd. Buffalo shouldn't have to retain the 1.5M at all but maybe adds a late pick like 5th just to even it out.

Of course that's just my opinion.........

Lehko's value isn't as high as habs fans believe it to be.

Lehkonen have the same value than Burakovski, so he's worth a 2nd + 3rd round pick minimum.

This is pretty awful for buffalo. And great care was taken to remove any chance this breaks our way. Our best prospect gone (at a position we have a giant hole at), we retain for some reason for 3 years on a decent contract- just because, and the first rounder that is likely a mid first- well its top 10 protected just in case things break our way.

The Jets are trading the guy with the most term though so I'd say they're giving more then enough.

Really this trade is just bad, really don't get why Heinola, Suzuki or Cozens are involved at all.

Heinola=Suzuki
Lehckonen=2nd at most
Ehlers>>ristolainen
Not to mention that heinola is part of the next big surge of d prospects, risto isn’t what we need, and leckhonen is not too valuable to us. Suzuki is the only peice that is truly enticing

So whats his value then? Some fans think he's worth a 1st rounder, if so then i agree with you. Other are more modest and based on data, he's easily worth what they're saying. So.....

MTL doesn't need a 60 point left winger (about a 10 point improvement at 1LW depending on how MTL lines up this season), a C prospect who isn't a sure bet to be better than the 3 they currently have (Suzuki, Poehling and KK) and a 2nd at the cost of a cheap 50 point top 10 in Selke voting C, 1 of the previously mention C prospects, a decent 3rd line winger who fits the system and has the coach's trust defensively and a 1st even if it is top 10 protected. The actual value doesn't really matter, it's a poor use of assets. Ehlers for 1 of Drouin or Tatar along with 1 of Juulsen, Brooks or Fleury and a pick and MTL might be tempted depending on the combination.
