In front of Matthews. Don't get me wrong, I think Matthews will eventually be as good as everyone thinks he is now but until he stays healthy I'm not ready to say he's a top 10 center in the league. I think Marner is a beast and deserves the praise.

Theres been people comparing Matthews to MacKinnon and Draisaitl. I dont see it. I think Matthews when healthy is good for maybe 75-80 points but I think that may be his max. I mean in three years, the dude has had one healthy season. I'm not trying to throw shade his way, he is one hell of a player, but for people to say he is one of the top 10 centers in the league is crazy.
I feel like Marner's value has gone down quite a bit only because of the way he is handling the contract situations. You can make the argument that all the other RFA's are doing it but people do that all the time. In baseball, when Tom Seaver needed a new contract, he was obviously the top fish on the market. All the other star pitchers held out until he signed his contract so they had a comparable. To have Marner leave the money and term up to his dad and agent is absurd. He is apparently asking for 10x3, 11x6, and 11.634x8. Dont get me wrong, again he is a hell of a player but not worth that much and people in the media of Toronto and Toronto fans in general like to hype him up as the next Ovechkin or the next Kurri.

Only reason I am on Marner's side is because Toronto had no problem giving Matthews that contract so if I'm Marner I'm looking at my numbers compared to his and asking for the same $. Toronto should've done what the hawks did with toews and kane. Sit them both down and sign them to identical deals
