If the NMC is waived for the trade the team that acquires the player with the NMC can choose to honour or void the NMC. There is no strategic reason for the new team to honour it so basically every team voids the NMC

Edit: this all assumes that the player waives his NMC for the trade while knowing that the new team can/will void it

I suppose the player could require that the new team keep the NMC intact, but since it's a contractual obligation on the old teams contract only then that wouldn't be a requirement for the move...

I was about to say I think the player can request that it’s kept as @moli92 has explained it perfectly but I think that could cause issues for the teams trading and possibly make a trade disperse as the other GM doesn’t wanna have to trade with the GM and the player saying “yeah but I need this”

Interesting that consent is not required for assignment to the minors, I thought NMC meant no movement at all...

It's basically still the players option if he wants the NMC intact he will make the acquiring team agree to it or the player can just veto the trade. The only way the NMC can be removed without player consent is if they are traded before NMC has started example being JT Miller VAN voided his clauses as he was traded a week before they started
