I love Hoffman but losing Larson just cant happen at this point.
Past management has pigeon holed the current one

Hoffman is the better player here and worth more than Larson even as a free agent. The pick won’t be going your way and the panthers don’t need manning

idk 2 years of Larson for a guy they probably cant resign after the season, its makes some sense for them. realistically florida signed Connelly so they can slot him in hoffmans space

Nobody needs Manning, he's probably included here for cap purposes.

Which is why the pick goes to Florida in this scenario.

Connelly will never be hoffman. Connelly is a third line player who will put up 15 goals not 35. If hoffman has another good year I bet he resigns.

Agree , forgot the word should . Any one taking on Manning is getting a pick to accommodate them.

Yeah. It would have to be poolguy and Larson and that might get the panthers interested

Just a note....if this trade were to happen, Hoffman would probably have to waive his NTC to come to Edmonton indicating that it would probably be easier to resign him (if desired) than you suggest.

Manning simply isn't going the other way....Florida only has 10 forwards on their current roster and very few NHL-ready prospects. IF something were to happen I'm guessing player(s) like Gagner and Puljujarvi would be going to Florida.

Larsson isn't good though? Why hold onto an asset that isn't good?

The right side of this defense now looks like Anaheim's.

Yeah, and I don't see why Florida trades for another defenseman either. Their top-4 is set for another few years.

I love how you're RHD group has 206 games of combined experience and Benning has 205 of those games. This leaves EDM with 2 known "top 4" dmen (Nurse and Klefbom). Russell and Benning are best served as a 5/6 and Bouchard shouldn't be relied on to be top pairing quality this year or next. Persson is a complete wild card coming from overseas.

All that and now Edmonton is now a 2 line team...

If Larsson isn't good, why would a team essentially trade a player that could get a 1st round pick + at the deadline for a "not good" player and a capdump?

They shouldn't. Larsson wasn't good when he was in New Jersey and Chiarelli traded for him because he is terrible at his job and now people seem to think being traded for Hall makes him better than his stats and advanced stats show. He's a 2nd pair defenceman at best and is likely closer to a bottom 4 guy than a top 4 guy. Its literally been this way his whole career. Fans get caught up though with the whole, "He's the best we got, that means he's worth this much." When your defence is terrible, being the best of a bad bunch doesn't make one good.

You said they should keep Larsson because he's important to the team. He isn't, and never has been. He's just an average bottom 4 defensive defenceman who can't play against top talent and hits a lot. He doesn't have a great contract and he's at an age where you know what you are getting with him. Which isn't a lot.

He hits a lot.

That's literally his only strength.

He's an okay skater, can't carry the puck. Has terrible advance stats was a disaster when he had to play against top opposition on a nightly basis and has no offence. The whole "he's a terrific shutdown defenceman" is a statement with zero supporting evidence. Tell me how is he valuable?

Nah. I just know I can safely ignore your take on anything going forward.

Please explain to me why he's so popular in Edmonton still? I just want to know.

Probably. They Probbaly keep Dadonov over hoffman if that’s the case and see how tippet develops this year who should take his spot if he were traded

no I know that. I watch him every game as I live in Edmonton, all I am saying is that they can't move him "right now" because they have zero to replace his spot. Bouchard is a year away, Broberg is a couple years away.

the addition of Hoffman is great and needed, but Larson is also needed so the Dcore just doesn't bleed out, which they will. Just look the Dore that is there in this proposed trade.....good luck even competing in the NHL.
