Best GM we've had in a long time and looks miles better than half the bull**** that half the teams have as GMs. Everyone still wants to get rid of him.

Man, Buffalo fans are absolute spoiled brats.

We haven't made the playoffs since 2011, have finished last 3 of the past 6 seasons and have drafted in the top 8 in every draft since and including 2013. And just traded the conn smythe winner for nothing

Yea, real spoiled

Cool so Regier and Murray own six of those eight playoff-less seasons. Murray blew most of those draft picks or moved them away for little (besides Reinhart). Botts' first round picks have been Mittelstadt, Dahlin, Cozens, and Johnson. Most of those we don't have time on to judge yet, but Mitts is looking like at least a NHL'er which is better than 90% of the drafting we've done since ****ing 1998 (it really is, Regier was the absolute worst drafter).

The ROR trade appears like a blunder on paper, but there's so many question marks around it. Why did we push so hard to avoid paying his signing bonus on July 1st (pushes down his value), the Pegula's wouldn't care about not writing that check if they weren't personally involved. This doesn't add up either with how good the rest of Botts' trades have been. Skinner for peanuts. Jokiharju for peanuts. Montour for a low first+Guhle is good value. Got Sheary for almost as little as ****ing Erne (35pt player vs 20pt). Managed to get something for EK when it was clear we weren't going to give him another contract. The only trades that have been a wash so far are Scandella, Beaulieu, and Wilson.

We don't have a Fenton mortgaging our team to "win now". We don't have a Jim Benning who builds teams for an ancient, old style of play that doesn't work anymore. We have a GM that can draft, can trade, and is try to build a modern, skilled side. Climbing out of the ****-hole we were in because of that last two GMs is/was going to be an incredibly painful process and it's ignorant to think we could just turn it all around in two seasons.

Botts has the appearance of a top-10, top-5 GM but nobody in Buffalo wants to accept that building a legitimate team in the cap-era takes seasons of quality rebuilding. Not whatever garbage Murray and Regier tried to pull.

I guess I was sleeping the last 4 years:
Did the Sabres win the Stanley Cup during that time?
Did the Sabres make the playoffs every year the past 4 years?
Did the Sabres have a winning season every year I was sleeping?
I guess I need to check the records, I did not know O'Reilly won the Selke every year he was with Buffalo!
Oh wait! I just checked the Sabres finished last when he was on the team.
Wait Darren Dreger thought a first, young player and more was the fair price for O'Reilly https://www.gohabsgo.com/articles/darren-dreger-reveals-the-cost-to-land-ryan-oreill/ for what did Betterall settle Julius Bergman, Mikkel Boedker and round 6 pick in the 2020 draft?
Wait was I dreaming when I thought I heard O'Reilly said he quit on the team?
Was I dreaming that the Blues were in last place until Binnington became the starting GK.
So far he is the best GM since Scotty. I am sure some dumb sports writer will run Jason out of town as well as they did Scotty, if the team does not win the cup in 2 years.

Well, well, well it takes someone who actually saw him build a championship team to recognize his value.

Yup, next summer he'll be free to sign anywhere.

If that is what you want, then it will be at least another 5 years before the team makes the playoffs.

Man, Buffalo fans are absolute spoiled brats.

I completely agree. Actually ignorant spoiled brats. It may take over 100 pts to make the playoffs in the east, but if the team misses the playoffs, then the season is a failure.

Upgrading the defense with Montour, Jokiharju, Pilut, and Miller is nothing?
Getting the Amerks into the playoffs for the first time since I do not know, is nothing?
Getting Bales (one of the best GK coach) to tutor our GK is nothing?
Adding secondary scoring (Vesey, Sheary, Johansson) for a 3rd and 4th is nothing?

Thank you, The team is headed in the right direction. It will miss the playoffs again, but it will be better.
Edit: He is very forward thinking solving problems before they happen, Do you all remember how DATM had to give up a 5th to get Nilsson when many Sabre GK were injured, well he signed Hammond before the season started. and added additional depth on defense and forward for nothing. That is why he is a good GM, he acts not reacts.
Edit: Scandella, Beaulieu, and Wilson did not work out as well as one would thing, Scandella cost nearly nothing, Ennis and a 3rd, Beaulieu same a 3rd and Wilson a 5th. Not even close to Gorges for a 2nd, Fasching and Deslauriers for 2 seconds and McNabb, and more I am sure you know.
The players he added far exceed the minor losses in those trades IMO.
