Either add and try and get Rakell or don't bother trading with Anaheim

The forward coming back doesn’t have to be Sprong...could be someone like Nick Ritchie who is a good top 9 player who could develop into a top 6 forward. Dahlin/Larsson/Pilut is a really solid left side and would allow BUF to trade McCabe at some point in the season for another decent forward.

I see no way ANA gives up on Rakell but if we’re talking about adding to get a higher return I saw a trade with PHI where it was Risto and Asplund for Shayne Gostisbehere. Gostisbehere would make the Sabres D unbelievably scary.

A. ANA wouldn't go for that, Sprong is a goal scorer, ANA needs goal scorers, they were 31st in GF last year, aside from the obvious two in Kase and Rakell, Sprong and Silf are probably the next two least likely to get traded, then you're adding debatably their best d prospect who's also NHL ready, and a second that if they're as bad as people think will be in the early 30's of a very stacked draft, for a #4 d man... No, and B ANA DOESN'T NEED RISTO, THEY WERE A BOTTOM FIVE TEAM DEFENSIVELY LAST YEAR, THEY NEED A DFD AT 2RD, NOT A RW FAKING AS A D MAN THERE, STOP SENDING HIM TO ANA, IT DOESN'T FIX THEIR ISSUE, IT JUST MAKES IT WORSE

Hey man, I see a bunch of Anaheim AGMs taking him. Caps don't help your argument.

I don't think Rakell is possible at all. I do see an avenue for trade if Anaheim is willing to give up Lundstrom or Comtois (i.e. not their sure-fire top-6 prospects, Terry and Steel). I think either would be good adds if we're willing to take on the risk of moving for prospects that could play in the NHL by the end of the season. Anaheim is completely bereft of RHD talent in their pipeline.

Anaheim isn't. Comtois and Lundestrom are also sure-fire top-6 prospects. The most you're likely to get are Kiefer Sherwood (could play this year) or Antoine Morand (might make the team next year).

Rakell's the obvious target but Kase would be a close second to consider for the need at RW - beyond that, you're right about Anaheim not being a fit for Buffalo as trade partners.
