Trade with Jets my mama said you gotta give to receive

Created by: HabStraction
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 12, 2019
Published: Aug. 14, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would you do it ? I know some hab fans think we have stars in our prospect pool. According to experts our pool is good but no stars there. Poelhing projected as a 3rd C, ...Suzuki, maybe...maybe 2nd line. KK is not projected as a top 20 Center. Our star is Price and is 31. I suggest we try to contend for the next 2-3 years, than tank for the next 2-3 years and be contenders again when KK is 26. We have to avoid the middle, where you don't win and don't get top picks either. It'S frustrating to see the leafs with 3-4 top stars just because they lost for so many years. Same for Colorado, New Jersey, and so on.

Note : the line-up i created would happen in 2-3 years , when suzuki and kk have matured

Trades
MTL
  1. Laine, Patrik [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
hab fans : i know most would not trade Caufield but our team needs more size for playoffs. If Caufield was 6' and 200 lbs, I would never do this trade.
WPG
  1. Caufield, Cole
  2. Kulak, Brett
  3. Tatar, Tomas
Additional Details:
jets fans : 3 strong players with low cap hit . Next year, You' can start the benefit of having Caufield at entry level 1 million contract for 3 years which would help for your cap situation. Tatar will give you same amount of point than Laine (not the same amount of goals though !) and i know Kulak was a waiver a year ago, but he really was a good 4th defenseman last year.

Why you say that about KK! Is progression over the last 2 years is incredible. You know how it’s tough to make nhl at 18 years old, it’s even more difficult to have succes. He play very similar to alexander barkov, size, way they see the ice, and both have lethal shot. He have a legit

Possible. I Hope you're right ! I got to admit I really like his first year. My point was that in general, since the habs always aim for the playoffs, it's unlikely to get a real star that will get you to the Cup
When I look at Toronto's : In the last 6 years they drafted : Matthew (1st overall) Marner (4th) ,Rielly (5th), Nylander (8th). This got them to attract Tavares (a 1st).

How can you compete with that ? Loosing like the leafs, or making some aggressive trades (like the one i am proposing) and /or offer sheets.

Bit the leaf are in a jam! With likely 30 + millions for
Three players next season they will
Loose muzzin and barrie and plus frederik anderssen will get a major raise when is contract end. Toronto might have 4-5 all star player they manage very poorly the situation

Easy to say "look at Toronto" have you seen their drafts prior to that? They weren't good yet they still haven't got any star out of those plus they're in cap hell for years from now on.
