Dillon and Gregor Dealt for Kapanen as Both SJ and TOR Improve

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 15, 2019
Published: Aug. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Fact that Kapanen's under contract and an RFA after instead of a UFA next year like Dillon makes Kapanen the more valuable asset. Otherwise both teams are trading an excellent player in an area of excess for an area of need.

So a 29 year old defenceman that average 15 point a season and a C-D prospect for a young 23 year old 24 goal 44 point speedy winger ??

That's a top 4 defensemen and a B prospect. What do you expect for a sub 50 point winger? An A prospect and a 1st? I don't see this trade happening based on need but the value is about equal.

I don't see Dillon as a top-4 guy. I'd say he's a #5. I don't think it's enough to get Kasperi Kapanen. It looks like Gregor is a pretty decent prospect, but I still don't think Toronto would do this.

Most Leafs fans already consider Dermott to be in the top 4 range, and if that's the case then Dillon for sure is top 4. He doesn't get enough attention based on who else is on the blue line but this year especially he's grown into a top 4 role.

The only reason Toronto would be moving Kapanen for cap space and this trade would give them a whopping $70K.

Here is the age of dillon that posed problem the guy maybe have 3-4 year of hockey left because the kind of hockey he play and kapanen might play at least 10 more season. Kapanen add 40 point at even strengh and on pk he add just 4 of is point on pp since he add no ice time on powerplay.you have a guy that have similar stat then kapanen but that olay on powerplay labanc add 20 of is 56 point on the power play so that is 36 even strengh that comparable to kapanen. So would you trade labanc for dillon and noah gregor base on labanc is comparable too kapanen

He's arguably top 4, but i see him as a #5. Dermott, however, i see as a #4 but is arguably bottom pair. Those guys are similar level right now but i think Dermott is a little better.

Leafs really don't need a LHD. If Dillon had more term, yea it good be possibility. But four years of Kapanen control doesn't get the trade done. Plus the Leafs need Kapanen with an unsigned Marner and an injured Hyman.

You may not see him as a top 4 but the Sharks, and most other teams see Dillon as a top 4. Dillon was the Sharks most reliable and third best D man last year. He's a top 4 talent situationally and by ice time. I dont think this trade goes down because the Sharks value Dillon far greater than Kapanen, who is a tweener top 6/third line winger. I also agree Toronto doesnt do this because of cap issues. Next year (Dillon will want a slight pay raise). Toronto has plenty of left D.
