Thee 2 yr Plan to get 87- 4 Cups - The 2019-2020 Pittsburgh Penguins Part 1

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 12, 2019
Published: Aug. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
_____________________________________________________________________

This is what is needed to be done before The 19'-20' Season starts.

1- MUST Get a Real Top 4 - 2nd pairing LHD-man to pair w/ Schultzy.
A) - McCabe

2- Get J.Johnson out bc he is not a good fit w/ Schultz and he cant be on 3rd Pairing w/ Guddy bc that 28-44 pairing was & will be a great 3rd pairing again.
A) - To LAK

3- Trade a forward w/ a cap hit of $3m or more to create some cap room.
A) - Rusty

4- Trade for a young RHD-man that could maybe step in for Guddy if we need the cap space next yr.
A) - Meloche

5- Need another depth RH-forward w/ so many LH-forwards on roster.
A) - Lewis & Hawryluk

6- Need at least 1 physical forward
A) - Girgensons

Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Lewis, Trevor
Additional Details:
Lewis is a solid 4th line C/RW that hopefully has a bounce back season after missing half of last yr to a foot injury.
LAK
  1. Johnson, Jack
  2. Ölund, Linus
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Johnson for Lewis is a fair player for player trade.
- Olund & 3rd Rdr added for LAK taking Johnson's contract for 2 more yrs until Expansion Draft.
2.
PIT
  1. Girgensons, Zemgus
  2. McCabe, Jake
Additional Details:
- McCabe could be a steal here bc IMO he is a legit Top 4 D-man that is the perfect guy to pair w/ Schultzy.
- Girgensons is a tough player that never lived up to his ability.
BUF
  1. Miletic, Sam
  2. Rust, Bryan
Additional Details:
Rusty would be a tough loss to replace bc he is the RustArmyKnife & can do it all but the need for LHD-man is a must.
-Miletic is a prospect that Botterill was high on & should get NHL time this yr.
3.
PIT
  1. Meloche, Nicolas
Additional Details:
Meloche isn't 1 of COL top Prospect D-men like Timmons, Bryam, or Rosen but I love him. He is a 6'-3" / 215lb RHD that can put up points & plays physical. Prob needs another year to year in a half in AHL.
COL
  1. Aston-Reese, Zach
Additional Details:
ZAR is a top 9 winger w/ physical ability but mite need a change to change his injury bad luck.
4.
PIT
  1. Hawryluk, Jayce
Additional Details:
Hawryluk is a solid / agitating depth winger who goes 100% when on the ice, plus this forward group needed another RH-winger & FLO has 5 RH-forwards on roster.
FLA
  1. Blandisi, Joseph
  2. 2020 6th round pick (PIT)

That was also a few years ago, and now your core of Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are that much older. Other things that have changed since then: swap Kessel for a worse forward, lose Bonino and never find a suitable replacement, various injuries (Schultz's leg and Letang's neck most notably), and my personal favorite, adding bad players/contracts like JJ, Tanev, and Gudbranson. I'll never fully count out a team with Crosby on it, but after they got swept this year I think it's nothing more than wishful thinking to suggest that they'll win again, especially since they didn't make any significant improvements over that roster.

Loud, and from the rooftops of Pittsburgh, for all Pens fans to hear:

The Kings WILL NOT take Jack Johnson's contract, unless there is a first round pick OR a 2nd rounder + a B+ rated DRAFT EXEMPT prospect coming back. JJ isn't going to be picked by Seattle at the expansion draft, are you kidding?

Compliance Buyout I think is what he was going with on the expansion draft.

Maybe, but that's only if there's a lockout and there are penalty-free buyouts again. If not, the Kings are looking to rebuild to a playoff team within 3 years, and a buyout will hamper that. No reason to take JJ unless they are blown away by the offer.

I think compliance buy outs as part of the expansion were all but confirmed? I do agree that its a tough sell.

How about a handshake deal:

LA take on JJ while they rebuild and for the last few years of Pens being truly in it. Then just swap him back when pens need to rebuild and Kings are ready.

PIT is on the downside now. They signed tanev for $3,5M for SIX years lmao and traded Kessel for Galchenyuk (yeah I know Joseph but still)

I've heard nothing on compliance buyouts as part of the expansion draft. Doesn't mean it's not happening, but the only time compliance buyouts were a thing were post the lockout.

Nah. Nobody in the league wants to help out the Penguins besides Pens fans. All of us are tired of that team being continually good. It's almost as bad as Boston.

All they've done is get younger and better ???
- Kessel lost a step and is 32 .... Got Gally whos 25 and the only good team he was ever on he got 30 goals and has crazy good potential w/ Geno or Sid
- Tanev yah to many yrs but who cares bc in 4 yrs we are rebuilding if it kept the cap # down id give him 10yrs, bc we needed an agitator type guy
- McCann is about to be a star on line w/ Sid and Jake... that dude is a fav of mine
- Bjugstad didnt score alot but he did great as a 3rd line C - hes way better than Brassy, Boninno, or McKegg
-Geno will bounce back and be out to prove how good he is
-Sid keeps getting better and I dont get it? No body comes close to his overall game
- Kahun is a great get.. another young forward
- Simon is only 24 and prob has a breakout yr
- Horny had concussion issues 2nd half of season and will be good again... he balled out in Worlds
- Blueger would have been 75% of the teams 4th line C last year ... finaly gets his spot
- Letang was as good as ive ever seen him last yr until injury
- Schultz will be healthy
- Dumo is 1 of best defensive Dmen in NHL
-Murray single handely got us into playoffs

This team mite be better than those cup winning teams
