A couple points on your roster this season. Don't be surprised to see Derick Brassard sign a 1-year deal with LA. Something of a "show me" deal to the league to up his own value and which would allow LA to gain some assets by trading him to a contender by the trade deadline. Also, I imagine Sean Durzi gets a hard look at training camp, and I would expect him, at some point this season, to get at least a 9-game NHL audition.

What's the point of the Quick trade? Quick has a better cap-hit, is younger, and has probably the higher trade value, despite his season last year. Not to mention you're retaining salary on the deal?

he also has a year more on the deal which means could be a nuisance assuming the rookies are near ready in 4 years

The "rookies" are ready now, so the problem is the same with Schneider as with Quick. The Kings need to choose 2 out of Quick/Campbell/Peterson by the end of this year, as the other two already proved they are ready for full NHL minutes. They're going to get assets for whoever is the odd-man out, not trade it for the same problem they already have.
