The Avs don't need more defence. Why is Girard an extra?

Idk who plays with who but when Cole is back from his injury i think Johnson, Makar, Byram, Cole, Zadorov, and Girard are their top 6. If they need anything on D it's a true #1 which i don't think they have yet, but Makar will probably be that.

Makes just as little sense as the last post of this trade.

Aging 29 yo, well lets dig the graves for 32 yo Crosby and 33 yo Ovechkin.
LOL you actually think Barberio is better than Bogosian, a fifth and sixth is hardly wasting prime picks less then 3 picks from each of those round will play more than 100 NHL games.

its a LHD for RHD swap, the picks are in the 5th and 6th rounds and are almost insignificant. COL has only 2 NHL caliber RHDs right now, and this would get them a 3rd. they arent getting an extra d man since they get rid of one of the extra LHDs in this same trade. they have the same number of D men with or without this trade

Bogo has been injured and miss significant time every season since 2010...where he missed only 11 games. A guy that is injury prone as he is, I didnt know that hockey players get healthier while they age. Thats the point.

Bogo is washed up already, he has been for years bc his body is falling apart . And yes Barbs is better than Bogo, you really havent looked much into how bad Bogosian has been for the past 5 years

bogo sucks big time. Dont let him come near the young D core, hesa a head case and injury case. Johnson would murder Bogo in the locker room

Sabres probably do this, it does save them 1 million in cap space, and as of right now i would rank bogosian behind montour, miller, ristolainen, and possibly jokiharju and nelson. I agree bogosian has been injured an awful lot and is probably close to the end, last year however was his best year with the sabres. Barberio probably ends up in rochester- he has to beat out dahlin, mccabe, pilut, and scandella/hunwick. The picks mean nothing. Basically buffalo is trading one retention spot for a one million in cap savings. Meh. Sure.

You are the one who brought up age.
Bogosian actually played very well last year, I am shocked that you do not see that even on low scoring Sabres (nearly a half a goal more per game than the Sabres), his pts would have been the 4th best for the AVS. So replacing one of the worse defensemen for one who would have ranked 4th is a bad idea?
Do you understand that GM's and coaches try to balance LHD v RHD? Do you understand why coaches try to balance this?
Sakic has done a very good job building the team, I can say with great certainly that before the season starts he will trade for a RHD to balance the defense.
This is one option, maybe not the best, but maybe the best one offered to Sakic.

This is comical, Sakic may trade for a RHD prior to the start of the season sure. But it will not be close to this. Even with Buffalo retaining $2.5m of cap the Avs are still paying $2m more in cap than they were with Barberio while also losing draft picks for Bogosian who is brutal. There is no point in bringing him in when Cole and Zadorov are equally as physical, healthier, and put up the same amount of points.

Also not sure who the bozo was up there who said 5th/6th rounders are practically meaningless so this is a good trade. Picks are picks regardless of draft number and always have the chance to prove themselves. Oh wait, that was you who said that.
