You could give KK 4 1sts Domi and a nice steak dinner and Melnyk would still refuse the trade just because he’ll lose .02% of the money in his wallet

And that's not enough compensation for taking that many years of Alzner when they need to pay all their RFAs in a couple of years

I love how every one says the sens will “need help” getting to the cap floor like they’re doing them a favour. Even if they end up shy, which they may not, there are plenty of bad contracts out there and teams willing to pay a premium to move them.

Don't know in the history of the NHL in the cap era, teams trade for long term bad cap and real $$$$ to reach the cap floor. But it's urban legend on CapFriendly.
As Jamie indicate above, their are better ways, not necessarily to reach the cap floor but to fill the cap between the floor and the ceiling. Teams such as Jets, Tampa, Flames just might give the Sens true NHLers to help them sign their own RFAs.
