They need to sign Gretzky back to play for them again to have a chance of winning again.

I think if you are signing Hall you keep Nuge and Larsson and stay away from Rust, Buchnevich and Faulk. With the maturation of players like Yamamoto and Benson I don't think you need to add mid-range players like Rust/Buchnevich.

I'm the biggest critic of the Oilers defense (currently one of the worst in the league of which they've literally done nothing to fix) but I think by next year we will begin to see substantial improvement through the likes of Jones and Bouchard.

And to the people who claim that the "Oilers won't be good for a while".....a team that can ice two 100-point players will always be a threat once they're able to strengthen team defense.

Just my thoughts...

I know. Koskinen’s contract frustrates me so so much. I can’t think of one reason that any team would take him. We either have to wait to the expansion draft and give Seattle a high pick or prospect to take him or just hope he magically starts playing better.

Buch can be much better than a mid level player playing with someone like mcdavid or draisaitl

Why do you hate the Oilers? All those trades are terrible for the Oilers.

If they make these trades, for sure.

Of the 31 starting goalies last year (41+ gp), Koskinen was 24th in save percentage. Three of the 7 goalies below him made the playoffs, and one of the others was Jonathan Quick. He isn't the reason Edmonton didn't make the playoffs last year.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him post NHL average numbers next season.

I’m not saying he’s the reason they didn’t make the playoffs. The Oilers have way more problems than him. It’s the fact that he got paid 4.5 million and 3 years for a goalie who at the time had played 27 NHL games. And who was starting a down ward spiral from the impressive first 20 games. And even his stats were below average for a starting goalie even when they signed him. I just don’t understand why in the world they would let Chirelli negotiate that contract especially when he gets fired the next day. Maybe he’s an average goalie this year. Doesn't make it better.
