I find it strange and concerning that this team only has 1 right handed forward

Created by: nalzugaray12
Team: 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2019
Published: Aug. 16, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
You need your fair share of lefty-rightys. Especially on the offense. This team can have a lot of problems until they address that issue. I don’t know, maybe I’m the only one that feels that way but I just find it strange. One right handed forward? I mean cmon lol

That's because all his goals are off breakaways.

THAT's why Detroit's been bad recently, too many lefties! Here I thought it was the bad players that were making them bad, but nope, they just don't have enough righties!

For real tho that's weird as hell

Carolina got to the Eastern Conference finals with Justin Williams being their only right hand shot forward, it's not an issue

Yeah I’m not a Detroit fan and I was looking at their lineup and I noticed it. They’re gonna have some issues, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that. I think the last thing that was similar to this was Detroit back in like 2014 when they only had 1 right handed dman in their lineup haha

I guess but this was there first year making the playoffs and Detroit has been in the bottom of the league for some time now. Maybe it’s not a massive issue but it’s strange

I agree Carolina is wierd because if they make it they go to the 3rd round. Having one right hand forward isn't ideal, but it's workable

65% of the league is a lefty.

So on average a 23 man roster would have 8 righties.

DET will likely only have 4 so while its below average its really not way off.

Maybe it’s just me being a Bruins fan and I’m used to having the lefty-righty combos on all 4 lines but I just find it weird. Especially on the power play, I feel like you need those right handed forwards for one timers and playmaking and such

I’m talking straight forwards, not factoring in dmen here. What is the percentage of lefty forwards in the league?

Carolina haven't seen a good power play since before the war so I can't help you there

Tampa is also left hand loaded. 8 lefties, 3 righties. The three right are centers Stamkos, Point and Johnson who played left wing last year (scored 29 goals. Kucherov is lefthanded plays RW and he scored 128 points.

Well most D cores are 3-3 or 4-2 or the rare 5-1 like arizona, but how many top 12 forwards are 11-1 besides detroit and carolina, its really rare

That’s different though, those are your top 3 centers and they are excellent at playmaking. So they have that rolling on their top 3 lines and their power play. This Detroit team has 1 right handed forward and I doubt they’ll get much power play/scoring luck with that

Oh it definitely isn't ideal and has been an issue for DET for a while now but as another poster pointed out DET sucks because they suck not a lefty righty balance issue.

100% agree but I think having one right handed forward doesn’t help their issue that much either

Yeah well what are they going to do? Get a player that they think is worse than a player they drafted/signed because they are a righty?
