Is this the year Tanev finally comes to TO

Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2019
Published: Aug. 16, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't bother commenting on the Marner contract, if you thing its ridiculous, its because you enjoy the media driven drama and want to see the Leafs burn. Its nonsense.

I like Tanev, I think Vancouver hasn't put the same resources into sports science that TO has and I think that will go a long way to keeping him healthy.

I don't know what's worse. Darren Dreger obsessing over Paul Marner and these contract talks, or your take at what Marner will sign for. Oof.

As much as I would like to see the Leafs D improved I Doubt a trade like this happens. Like it or not I think Rielly, Barrie, Muzzin, and CC are the top 4. CC scares me but he might be worth a shot. I could see the leafs signing a few veteran D to PTO's though

I doubt he'll do a 2 year deal, my guess is he'll end up signing for 6 at around 9 million. All the speculation is nonsense. Most of the RFA's still need to sign and judging from other reports, Rantanen, Connor and Werensky are all looking for long term deals. Once Rantanen signs, or Point, that will cement the market for these guys and Marner is out in the cold if he thinks he's going to get significantly more than Rantanen. Its just lunacy to think that Rantanen will sign for 8 years around 9 million and Marner is going to get more for less term. Its just silly. Ferris is a joke and just like he did with Josh Anderson and AA in Detroit, he's going to lose this again because no one cares about his hollywood, ego driven fantasy.

Its getting hard to judge the value of Tanev. Canuck fans have gone back and forth on him big time. You'll see the odd trade where a Canuck fan thinks Tanev will get them Nylander still (which obviously is insane) and I've seen people that trade him at half retention for just a 2nd. To be honest, I meant to throw Bracco in there as well, so I have corrected it.

Tanev is significantly better than all of those guys. Liljegren is better than all of those guys.

I think Vancouver takes that deal. Tanev’s value has been diminishing. A 2nd and a pretty good prospect is decent return imo. Although Van retains it still gives them 2.25 million in extra cap space to use towards Boeser.

You are way too hard on Tanev. If you look at his injury history there isn't a lot of repeat injuries (that is what would suggest a player is injury prone), most of his are bad luck injuries, blocks a shot and breaks his foot, or bangs his knee or whatever. Marian Gaborik when he was young would miss time every year with a pulled groin, every year! That is an injury prone guy, Tanev I think has been more unlucky and also has been coping with less assets for health that he'd have in TO.

Tanev is better than all these guys but he is also more expensive. We're talking about players willing to take PTO's, what are you expecting from them? Lijegren is not ready yet. You don't want to rush prospects along
