pit/min deal is way too many moving parts to properly evaluate. gudbranson and spurgeon are real pieces, selling johnson, some random prospects, five picks moving...way too many assets to make an armchair evaluation.
you really have to trust juolevi to be what he looked like in a very small sample size in the AHL to warrant sending a 25-point, 23-year-old defenseman who provided positive value and can take a defensive workload the other way.
it would probably cost you bjugstad+hornqvist just to get talks for tierney started, much less him and JGP. bjugstad and JGP are very similar on stats, age, contract. so you're really talking hornqvist, 33yo, 5.3x4, 25 goals 40-ish points as equivalent value for tierney, 25yo, 3x1, 10-ish goals 50 points. tierney is easily the most valuable piece in this entire deal and i can't imagine the sens would take it without a high pick going their way as well.
i don't think pit can trad dumoulin and petterson. especially since a 2m deal for gardiner is...unlikely. that's the nice way of saying "never going to happen", right? the only d-man you're getting on the open market under 2m is dion phaneuf. that said, dumoulin for carter is surprisingly possible from LA's position if they're LA is planning to suck **** again next season. carter could still put up points if he didn't play on the lowest scoring team in the NHL, and dumoulin both isn't old yet and would be a good replacement for phaneuf and a fringe long-term option when doughty starts his decline.
