Description

Bracco and Timashov just don't fit in particularly well on this roster but might have an opportunity to play decent minutes in Edmonton as the Oilers have no scoring depth.

Leafs will have cap room to add another middle-six winger and could use a big playmaker on Nylander and Matthews' line (doubtful that Mikheyev is that guy). I think it'd be worth taking a flyer on puljujarvi if he sits out the year but not sure I'd make that trade until Marner's contract has been sorted out. Another good trade partner for bracco/timashov might be with VAN for Jake Virtanen if he still can't crack 30-40 points next year. Also some decent UFA options out there in Vesey, Namestnikov, or Markus Granlund. I really like the idea of buying low on one of these players on a 1-2 year deal and seeing what they can do with Matthews and Nylander.

Barrie walks after this year - some team is going to give him 7.5 mil per season and Leafs can replace his offense with Liljegren or Sandin. I think Leafs could bring back Muzzin on a 5x4 deal and would do that as a backup plan if Hamonic signs somewhere else or asks for more than 5.5 per. TVR would be a great veteran partner for Sandin.

Overall, Leafs are sitting pretty next summer IMO

I think the Leafs would agree to the trade. However, Oilers would probably want more in return.

I swapped the 6th rd pick for a 4th but probably wouldn't budge any further if I'm the Leafs. They have other options

Meant for that to be a bridge - 3 year deal signed this year, not next year
