YES PLEASE from ED!!
Hate to lose Larsson, but Hyman&Petan could make a huge difference.
Of course, Hyman need be healthy, Petan needs development.
Well done..-~

So Hyman and waiver wire stuff for a top 4 RD and Poolparty. Sure.

And there is a retention button.

And you signed McQuaid??

And you have Moore as a top 6 forward...

Nope, looks alright.
Pulijarvi doesn't work in ED, Larsson is the only loss.
Wanted a healthy Hyman for a bit.
If ED could score Kapanen, great.

To BootBoi point, Pulijarvi doesn't work in ED and Larsson didn't have a great year. Leafs could put anybody with Tavares and Marner. They just need someone that can go in fast and dig out the puck. Isn't that what Hyman does.

McQuaid +2 last year, big , tough and inexpensive

Montreal has lots of picks and to take a chance on Ceci, Leafs take back salary and throw in Gauthier because he is not going to make the leafs this year.

Could say the same thing to a lesser extent about the Montreal trade. 2 useless players for Montreal and in return give up a mid round draft pick.

Larsson isn't really much better than Zaitsev. Abysmal possession numbers, not really a standout anywhere from a statistics standpoint but he hits a lot. He's never been anything more than a average defensive defenseman. Chiarelli should have known that when he traded for him but didn't care about advanced stats only draft pedigree. Since then Edmonton fans have for some reason fallen in love with him but in reality, he's a middling player and that's it. I wouldn't want him at his contract let a lone giving up assets to get him. Puli would be the grab and it's hard to say if he's going to figure it out.

Puli and Larsson are nothing special either. The most goals belongs to Hyman in this trade which is really funny.

He's been fed hard defensive starts and has put up decent possession stats. They are not abysmal.

They are under 50% have been his whole career. There are no excuses, he's just not that good.

He's just played on ****ty teams. Here is his hockey reference page which nicely lays out his cf and ff%. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/l/larssad01.html

He has been over 50% here and there but had been below certainly more often than not.

However his cf rel and FF rel which is relevant have been pretty consistent since he became an NHL regular at 22 in 2014/2015

Excluding 2015/2016 where he started a whopping 69% of his starts in the defensive zone and had a cf rel of -3.7 and FF rel of -2.7

All of his cf rel as an established NHLer (ie 2014-today taking the above out as the exception) have been -0.8-1.8 and FF rel have been -0.1-1.5.

He's done this while playing about 21 minutes per night and defensive starts in the mid 50s.

That's above average but nothing special possession hockey playing top 4 minutes with a focus on defensive starts.

It is not atrocious. It isn't special. But it's fine/solid. It is appropriate of his pay check and a complimentary first pair Rd or good second pairs rd

To get rid of Ceci and Gauthier I'd take a puck.
