That would be funny. Trading Buffalo their own power play quarterback (Miller), and getting back Risto

Why not target Faulk in Carolina? They just signed Priskie which makes their right side younger and deeper, and he's on a one year deal so if he sucks (not likely, but could happen) you're not stuck with him.

Theodore is one and Schmidt is second. And thats all you need. Dont strap 6ft4 version of Jack Johnson on your good team please.

Good idea? It's a great idea. Except I'm not sure the math works.

Really good idea. But Smith or Marchessault would have to go back, because otherwise the math doesn't work.

Depends on how much cap space they accrue during the season, and also when during the season the trade happens. Yes, if they made the trade now they'd have to move out someone even with retention on Carolina's end, but by operating under the cap with no LTIR could (and probably will) allow them to acquire a guy whose AAV would put them over the cap if they carried him for the full season. For example, if VGK had an annual hit of $81M and carried that hit for the first half of the season, they could then acquire a player with a 1M cap hit and make their cap hit 82M for the remainder of the season (81*0.5 + 82*0.5 = 81.5). It'd take some careful cap management in season (which any competent GM should be capable of), but it's totally possible for them to get Faulk without sending an equivalent or greater cap hit out if they're smart with their money.
