Description
This is simply a look at what we will/could have in 2 years time, just from what we have in the system right now.

1 of Copp and Lowry will probably be moved on by the expansion draft, and we should have a good replacement in Gustafsson ready to go in the bottom six. This also depends on whether Roslovic can actually play centre. This team pretty much depends entirely on Roslovic and if he can make the jump to 2C. If he can’t then we’re probably going to trade for one unless Gustafsson or Nikkanen can show well within the next 2 years

This scenario also assumes Buff doesn’t return/retires, but if he does come back that money from Lowry/Copp can go to him on like a 5x1.

Laine’s deal is after a 2 year bridge

Morrissey will probably get a bit more depending on what Proverov and Werenski get this summer, and how well he plays, imo I'd try to get Laine on a 3 year bridge, but if he isn't, he'll probably get more than 10 only bc the cap will probably go up to around 90ish so he'd get the 12-13% or so, but that'll be way more than 10, that defense is rough though, as expected the wingers are really good though

Yeah I went a little bit conservative on the cap, I’m not really sure what type of raise the cap will get with the new TV deal. If it does go up to 90, Laine will definitely and Morrissey will probably get more money.

Defense however looks like it’s going to be Morrissey and kids for a little bit unless Chevy manages to sign someone like Hamonic who would be willing to sign here and be a good fit.

That defense only appears rough cause some of those players are still unknowns but I think it'll be fine, really depends on Samberg signing and Heinola's development though.
Niku and Poolman should be good, I think they'll take steps forward this season so two seasons from now I'm certain they'll be well established in their games and roles on the team.
Pionk and Stanley don't seem too promising but who knows maybe they'll improve, in two to three years I doubt they're in the top 4 so doesn't really matter anyway. That Kovacevic kid might be a sleeper prospect, will be in the AHL this season so might be a decent player in a couple years, the Jets have some other similar D prospects that are kinda sleepers that might surprise in a season or two.

The future is still bright for this team as long as they don't do something stupid like trade a generational goal scorer or something.. ?

Chisholm is good too, but I'm pretty high on him, I really just saw Pionk on the top pair and went ??? lol

I'm pumped to see that German kid Gawanke this season with the Moose, he might be a player in a couple seasons but yeah if Pionk is on the top pair in a couple seasons it might be of concern.. Lol

I love Gawanke, but probably not a guy I'd count on to make an impact lol, but I really really really hope he does

Maybe not a huge impact but if he turns into a serviceable defenseman then that's pretty good for a 5th round pick.. Lol

Seriously other then getting a huge diamond in the rough like the next Zetterburg/Datsyuk/Stone that's all you can really expect/ask for from a 5th rounder.

Finally someone who is smart and doesn't trade like 10 million people. This is probably what the team will look like if their are no big moves.
