Description
Yeah, Laine to the Canes in this armchair. I’m not that familiar with Carolina, but this team looks super solid. The Defense is underrated at the top 6 makes me want to puke. I don’t like paying 2 goalies 3+ million, but beggers can’t be choosers.

In my senerio things go super sour with Laine and the Jets and in my mind Necas has the make up to be a number 1 center in a couple seasons. I like the Campbell pickup because he’s starting to come out of his shell and his contract isn’t hefty. TVR to the leafs is something the Leafs do for cushion, and they can afford to lose out on a future forward (Bracco). I then have the resigning of the locker room voice with Williams and Canes add Lovejoy for veteran help if a dman is hurting.

I get if Jets,Kings, or Leafs fans want my head on a platter for these moves, but I don’t consider any of these trades “steals”.

Anyways the Hurricanes look like they will be contending for the next 5+ years.

That’s too much for an average player at best in everything except a for a shot. And even then most of the time he is way out of position to even get a decent chance at a shot.

I mean Laine still scored 30 goals last season and he’s still 21. How many seasons did it take Mackinnon to break out? There’s nothing average about Laine’s shot. Let’s say he doesn’t turn out like Ovi 2.0 getting 45+ goals a season, if Laine averages 30-40 goals a season anyone would pay 8.

I don't 100 percent agree, yeah he had a down year but the dude has only been in the league 3 years. He's already one of the best goal scorers and He's gonna get better. I would think Carolina would be reluctant to give up necas because that leaves them weak at C. But you gotta give up a lot to get a consistant 30-40 goal scorer. I think the Jets will find a way to resign him

Matthews and many others in his draft class are in their third season. Why should I cut Laine slack when I don’t cut any slack to the rest of his class. I don’t spin it in any direction. I give it to you straight. The guy might have a solid shot, but he is horrible on defense, and he plays as a individual not as apart of the team. Guy wants to rack up the stats no play for a team win. Understand the differences.

Jets decline, if it's Pesce maybe they consider it but not for a UFA in Faulk.

Good team... but if Justin WIlliams were willing to play for 800k a year he'd have won another Cup with Washington. He held out instead for 3Mx2 from Carolina, to lead a young club out of an endless rebuild and up to respectability. Not sure if he still gets 3M this year, but he's still unsigned in August, and if he were okay at 800, he'd have a dozen offers already. Trades seem sorta fair, and I think Faulk has a bunch of value, but Winnipeg probably gets a dozen bigger offers on Laine, too.

Sorry but you don't know what you're talking about.
Yeah he just plays to rack up goals and doesn't care about winning or trying to help the team win, get real!
And all this stuff about him being horrible on defense is so overblown, no he's not perfect defensively but I'm not sure how many young players really are.

I totally understand that. In this senerio though things go really sour with the Jets and Laine. Adding Necas who will be a great player and Faulk isn’t too bad of a return for an unsigned player.

Like the trade for WPG. Maybe Roslovic instead of Green because if we have Necas we won’t have a spot for him. And then CAR isn’t hurting for C depth. Maybe upgrade the pick in that case

He plays individually. Get your head out of your ass and look at the board, and look at games. Why do you think they give up so many goals.

My head is not in my ass thanks.. Lol
They give up goals cause of the garbage man to man defensive zone system Maurice runs and a goalie that honestly just isn't that great.
It's hardly Laine that is the sole cause for goals against.

And he's not individual, when he was on the top line he was the set up guy getting assists and Wheeler was the goal scorer, he's so much more then the 'one trick pony' so many think he is.
