If the pens aren’t in a playoff spot by the deadline do the sell Malkin?

I’d doubt it, but you never know. They could get a lot from him so they can start a rebuild strong.

he'll have a cap hit of 9.5 million for another 2 years, which includes 2 signing bonuses. additionally, he has a no movement clause. the penguins would be selling low and it probably won't be worth it.

As long as Crosby and Malkin are still around, the team is going to try and win. If they miss the playoffs one year, they'll reload in the offseason and be right back in the thick of it next year. Selling Malkin doesn't get them anywhere.
