Bleeds goals against and doesn’t necessarily score or drive offense anymore either

Exactly, his offense was tied to playing lots of minutes with good offensive players. Even the years where the Islanders scored like crazy he wasn’t driving play. I guess I shouldn’t have said he’s bad, but it’s not like he’s had a great last year and a half

This trade is ass but that assessment of Leddy isn't fair either. He's still a Top-4 LD with plenty of offensive skill

Maybe, I’m not particularly high on any of the three pieces in the trade, I’m just not sure Leddy would be a good add. Bouwmeester is gonna get his minutes (unfortunately) so if anything Leddy is just gonna be taking minutes from Dunn who is younger, cheaper, and better.

Wdym barby is a solid 3rd liner with potential for more edmundson is a solid option compared to other FA and he only has 1 year left and kostin isnt a really good prospect

I do think Leddy could thrive in STL, but I’d honestly rather use those assets to upgrade at forward. I think we’re pretty set on D

I'm just saying that I think the trade vastly favors the Isles

Who's playing over Edmundson on the left side? Gunnarsson? Right now STL's left side is Bouwmeester, Edmundson, Dunn IMO. And this is likely Bo's last season anyways.

Gunnarson was amazing in the playoffs, and got himself 2 more years, and edmundson just isnt needed when he can be replaced by walman, mikkola, or perunovich

Leddy is not bad. Not sure why that conversation is happening.

I don't see the point of this for the Islanders, but the value is good.

Getting a solid 3C candidate, really good prospect, and cap space

I don't really think getting Edmundson or Barbashev really helps us, I think is the issue. Edmundson isn't really needed, we're deep on defense as a whole and Edmundson is more of a long term investment. Barbashev hasn't really shown he's an impactful NHLer, and he also is more of a long term investment. I'd rather get a 3C on an expiring contract to hold the spot for Koivula in 2020-21.

I like the idea of Kostin, because why not? But the others don't make as much sense. I'd rather do Kostin and draft picks.

Edmundson requires no commitment whatsoever hes really there for an immediate fill in and evening out the cap, and barbashev was huge for st louis in the finals with the rest of his line

Didn't realize Edmundson was a free agent, I take that back.
