Vanek is way to slow. Darling is no better than Dell really.

Vanek is too slow for a line with Thornton and Sorensen? I watched him a solid amount and he’s still got some left in the tank. And it Darling isn’t any better than Dell in a backup role, switch them. No harm done

I just dont think Vanek provides what we need at this point in his life. We need a guy who can step up and score goals and compete on a second line if a rookie doesnt work

Which is fair. Vanek looked good last year and produced well, albeit on a bad Detroit team. There really isn't anyone on the market right now to step into the top six (except Marleau, but that's already been much discussed), and given how thin the prospect and draft cupboards are, I didn't want to go the route of trading for someone like Toffoli or Kreider.
