Niku is jets version of Andersson, and have team control on both players, going to take a bigger haul, flames can’t afford laine contract demands, with out a few big changes

assuming Laine and Tkachuk would accept those deals is a joke considering the rumours we've heard say they both want over $10M!

One has to be optimistic about something, the wagon is emptying off pretty quick, I’m kinda enjoying the extra room on bandwagon

I don't think this even comes close going off the likely offer sheet compensation for Laine (two 1sts, one second, one third) and the fact that Niku was one of the best offensive defenseman in the AHL two seasons ago and is starting to find his footing at the NHL level (worth at least a second, maybe even a first). I think the Jet's would be looking at a package with the equivalent value of three firsts + second + third for these guys. Your package is probably worth half (Ryan = 3rd, Hamonic = 1st).

Then, Laine signs a 5 x $7M deal? I think the Jets would be happy to offer him that same deal and would have the cap space to do so plus still lock up Connor. His ask for five years is probably near what Skinner just got ($9M), and I think if they do end up at $7M it will be for a couple years, not 5.

Why are players not taking the max number guarantees over ufa status right on time, if I’m any of them I’m getting my 70 plus million guaranteed, and not worry about anything else but hockey over, the 5x x and ufa status right on time

Yeah that would seem like the best strategy, walk themselves into Unrestricted Free Agency and ask for a huge payday. Whatever the team is willing to pay them for the ... 5 years I believe it is for most of them, seems like a huge win for both parties.

So Laine signs 7m X 5 with Calgary? Gotta believe Laine has been offered at least that probably more by Jets. Bad trade for Jets anyway.

My thought with concussions, and other injuries, why not get largest number possibly, and not worry about 2nd cash if u get the first one right. Like if any rumours on marner are right, and 5x11? Why would he not go 8x10 and get his 80 million guaranteed over the 55 and not sure where he is sitting in 5 years

With the way contracts have been spiking upwards, I'm sure he wants to bank in after a short term contract, as well as all these others. They're betting on themselves based on the current market, and it's not like at this young age any of the current RFAs have really struggled with injury issues, so I'm sure that isn't their first concern

Is the market going to go much higher, possibly with a Seattle addition, but for every Seattle addition, there’s probably a dozen teams, that will never truly afford a cap much higher than it all ready is. All those rfas are healthy now, but hockey leaves casualties, just prefer to have the contract in place, in case any of them turn into the next Nathan Horton or somebody along those lines, that can’t suit up again, and also possible future physical issues.
