I'd be willing to bet that Dubas has offered him each of those deals. You and I would, and we're not smart enough to be running the Leafs.

Don't be so hard on yourself, OldNY. You're a smart man. You just ended up in the wrong industry. You easily coulda did a better job than the previous leaf management team over the last 50+ yrs.. most of us could have smile

Why would a lock out occur ? Unless the players get a higher % in revenue share, the cap will remain the same. Betcha most members of the NHLPA are a little perturbed to see the raise in % that the high end players are gettingwhich is squeezes the bottom the 17 paid players in pay. Leafs are going to spend to the cap and do many teams, so their is no financial benefit to the teams on how the cap distribution among players.

The youth of today are wrecking everything... same as they've been doing for last 10,000 yrs.. wink

This is a NHLPA issue and not an owners issue. The revenues are at 50-50 and that's not changing. What the NHLPA has to decide especially for the next CBA is how to distribute their share of the pie.

It's hard to believe the older PA members are going to just be okay taking less money. The younger members don't have the same standing within the PA as that is gained over time and with very little rights...not sure how younger players will get a bigger share of the pie.

I see what you are saying but I disagree. This may or may not be an issue for the PA. I tend to agree with you that it is. But it is also an issue for owners. One of the lesser reasons for the salary cap was caused by players who hadn’t ever played an nhl games making ridiculous demands. The elc and rfa system is in place to help teams develop and sign their prospects. Ufa players are asking for moon and so are rfa. Only enough of the pie to go around. I think the owners will want a solution to rfa contracts and hold out as much or even more than the PA

The owners may want a solution to the RFA contracts but at the end of the day they have their 50% and while it would be nice for the owners to have some thing figured out, they will eventually just say to the PA "this is a you issue, figure it out".

Not sure goes further than that as it pertains to owners.

The League is going to lock out the players or the players strike in 3 years. Pay him 10 for 3.

Lockout........right. So based on past history the leafs sign there guys to bonus heavy contracts. If Mitch signs now he gets paid next year during the lockout, if he sits he misses this years payday and the 9 million or so that he would get next July 1st.

Mitch will sign.

Hang in there Kyle!!!!!
