Created by: jimmyjets
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2019
Published: Aug. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We keep Laine and Connor and take a bit of a step back this year as we break in some younger guys is Vesa, Stanley, Niku, Ros moving to C and Pionk coming to a new team.

Kuli gets buried with the Moose as a depth callup.

Sign Samberg after his college year and get him some minutes down the stretch.

We count on our forwards to play better team D. Laine's deal is up the same time Buff's contract comes off the books so we sign him up long term after the bridge deal.

I'd like to see Lipon get a chance in the bottom 6

Yeah it does but trouba is also pretty overrated now so we’ll see what happens. He’s definitely not getting 50 again on the rangers.

I actually would like that too. Maybe they keep Vesa with the Moose if he's not getting the minutes and move Appleton to play with Connor and Roslovic. I believe that was the line when they played for the Moose.

Then go Copp Lowry Lipon.

It for sure is but it's time to usher in the next wave. While the D was the strength of this team the last couple years we'll need to forwards to be the strength of the team while we break in the next wave.

JMo (24, already top pair quality), Pionk (24, played top pair on the Rangers but wasn't great at it), Niku (22, AHL Defensemang of the year in his rookie season), Stanley (21, 1st round pick), Samberg (20, 2nd round pick), Heinola (18, first round pick)

We've invested some very high picks on Dmen the past few years so it's going to take some time but we need to start getting them experience now before Buff ages out.

I think we'll be fine on the back end, probably won't win the central but will still be a playoff team. Teams have won the cup without much for depth D as long as there are a couple of guys to lean on which we have in JMo and Buff.

It'll be a transition year for the jets D core for sure, but I still think this crop is good enough. The next wave looks really good
