I don't know, Fenton signed Dumba to his extension. It's quickly forgotten when you turn Neiderreiter into Rask, but still he at least did 1 thing right.

Minnesota Wild: okay we will be offering you 1.4 million.
Erikson Ek: Hell no! I will come back in a few months when you are reasonable!
Now
Minnesota: how about 1.48?
Erikson Ek: NO! add 75 hundred to that you cheapskates!
Wild: Okay.
That wasn't funny was it?

Dubas: Okay we're willing to offer $11,000,000 x 7 years.
Marner: Hell no! I'll come back in a few months when you're reasonable!
Dubas: How about $11,016,000?
Marner: NO! add $4,000,000 to that you cheapskates!
Dubas: Okay

No it was not ...

Interesting approach with the short term bridge, but that was likely player driven. His advanced stats are good, so the points will come I think. He will out perform this deal.

I thought he'd be a good candidate for the Jarnkrok/Scissons approach with a long term low-ish$ contract though. If they offered him 14M / 6 years (2.333M AAV) perhaps they could get him locked up and that way once the Wild have re-tooled and need the cap space for their run at the cup, they have their #3C (or perhaps even #2C) on a good value contract.

MIN desperately needs him to break out next season. Everyone knows about his high end talent and potential, but he's gotta put up 40+ points.
