5 years is bridge? For $7,5M only. Highly unlikely.
Those bottom-6 adds are weird but okay

You really trade Johnson for a 2nd?

MIN decline as they already have 5 G for NHL/AHL.

Why would Point get more than Kucherov and Vasilevskiy with less term? He’s comparable to Stamkos (I would say slightly worse, honestly) and isn’t taking the same term. I know the cap has increased a bit since Stamkos, but Stamkos was also a UFA and signed for eight years. Without other teams bidding on Point and/or us buying eight UFA years, $7.5m is certainly an extremely team-friendly discount, but it’s not unbelievable either. Anything over $8m is fair value on a five year deal is fair value based on team comparables. $9m-$9.5m would be reasonable if, and only if, he takes eight years. Anywhere from $6m to $8m is a reasonable bridge deal depending on how much of a discount Point takes and whether it’s 2 years or 3 years and everything (5 isn’t a bridge anymore though). Given the Vasilevskiy signing, I would think it’s probably closer to the upper end of that range. $7.25 x 3 would enable the Lightning to pay performance bonuses without being forced to make desperate trades, while still granting Point a lot of money and a chance to make a lot more money soon, and something around there is where I would hope BriseBois manages.

Given the rumours of Point turning down a Aho-esque offer sheet (likely a front loaded 5 X $8.454M), it makes it seem like he wants to be in Tampa long term and would take a discount to do so. But I don't think he's going to give them a million dollar discount.

I think two options that might work for him if he wants to be in Tampa for a while are the option of 6 x $8.666M (where he'd still have one more big UFA contract at age 29) or 8 x $9M to 9.25M (where he'd end up with a medium term UFA deal at 31 likely for slightly less money due to age). I assume he'd go with the six year deal where he'd be able to get one more giant contract. It's the best of both worlds for him most likely. Play for a cup contender in a tax free state for 6 years, then sign your retirement deal with whomever will open the bank vault for you.

Doubt Point takes any thing less then 8 x 9 and Johnson isn't waiving for LA he's not leaving a cup contender for a cup pretender.

8 X 9 would be a gift .. I think it comes in closer to 9.5 to match Kuch .. Stamkos is an irrelevant part of this team in 2 years .. role and PP player

Yeah Point at 7.25x3 is a fair bridge and what I've been using in most of my lineups going forward. 7.5 tops on a 3 year bridge, which is where I believe the Lightning are at now with him. He's only even getting Stamkos money if he takes Stamkos term, and he will not get paid 9.5, much less the 10 I've seen some ppl talking about on here. He takes the 7 and change, maybe 8 now and then in 3 years he'll become Tampa's highest paid and first 10+ million player if his level of play continues and if he wants to stay in Tampa at that time. I think the main hold up at this time isn't primarily the aav, but likely the term(3 years vs maybe 5 years).
