Yeah people forget he scored 44 goals as a 19 year old. One down season at 30 goals does not all of a sudden take away from the fact that he’s gonna dominate goal scoring for the next 10-15 years

Given Laine recently said there haven't been any discussions and given the state of that team after back to back disappointing years, I would imagine there's at least some chance they'd look to move him

First off it's a 23 man roster not 20, 20 man roster isn't sustainable over the course of a 82 game season. As you've zero backup in case of injuries. So you've pretty much 0 cap space to bring up any one if there are injuries. But overall it's not a bad trade. Just puts the Rangers in even worse position long term.

Not sure I'd agree. After next year they have a decent amount of $ coming off the books and they have a whole bunch of guys on D who will be on their ELC. Plus, either there will be a lockout in 2020 and/or the salary cap should rise with a new TV deal

As weird as it sounds, Rangers aren’t looking for a Laine right now. Maybe before they got Panarin and Kakko. But they are stacked at the wings.
