Botterill took hot garbage Hunwick right after leaving the Penguins organization so who’s to say it won’t happen again...? There’s enough complimentary pieces in that package to make it more than passable.

The Minnesota Wild have been granted permission to interview the Pittsburgh Penguins' Bill Guerin about their general manager position, sources told The Athletic's Michael Russo.

GRANTED PERMISSION.
don't think these things don't come without strings. It weakens the penguins to lose front office people over the years. The cost of such is always repaid when an organization hires a guy that is under contract.

You are just one of these trolls on here always posting crap like "it takes 5 1st round picks to trade Johnson" and a lot of the rest of hot air on this site.

The penguins did Minnesota a huge favor here. Don't think there is no payback.

Maybe Guerin is the one that pushed for Johnson to get signed. So he would be taking his own luggage with him.

I don’t think anybody is quite sure whether or not he did but it wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Jim Rutherford started making all these random moves for players who don’t fit their system the moment Jason Botterill took a job in BUF. I think GMJR is only as good as his assistant GM and Botterill was damn good at his job and I’m not so sure that Guerin was.

... because Botterill has done such a great job in Buffalo. His two years in Buffalo both of lesser results than the prior two years which got the last guy canned. Botterill might have had a nice Excel sheet that kept cap numbers straight, but he's not showing much. He lucked out with Buffalo being one of the only teams that Skinner wanted to play for (close to home), but other than that... all of his UFAs have bailed, no one has confidence in his team.

The difference between Pittsburgh and Buffalo is night and day. In Pittsburgh he just needed to find fast skilled players to compliment Crosby and Malkin. He also had two elite goalies at the same time. Botterill absolutely kills it when it comes to finding fast skilled defenseman who can push the play up ice and I think that’s pretty apparent with his moves this past offseason. Yeah the O’Reilly Trade was bad but he made up for it with getting Skinner for such a minimal return.
