RFA FOR RFA

Created by: BOLTLOVER1
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 22, 2019
Published: Aug. 22, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Does there come a time where you trade "holdouts for holdouts" .. you wouldn't think so but NBA NFL are showing many more moves and player driven team selection .. would it flow to NHL?
Trades
TBL
  1. Tkachuk, Matthew [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Large nasty high scoring winger. . Would fit PERFECTLY with Tampa
CGY
  1. Point, Brayden [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Love Point and 2 way centers game .. trade would be a major one for both teams.. Only way this makes sense if Stamkos is longer term answer at center rather than a LW ..

CGY wouldn't move Tkachuk. He is their best winger after Gaudreau and they don't have many other options who can play in the top6. Also have Monahan, Backlund, Jankowski, Ryan on C chart so Point is not needed

Point could also just play RW.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Point
Bennett-Backlund-Lindholm
Lucic-Ryan-Frolik
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Czarnik

Point is the better player so that makes the top line that much more dangerous. That second line isn’t too shabby either.

Flames barely have cap for Tzachuk, No room for the more expensive Point without other moves.

Losing Point creates a major hole in our roster (the main reason we were so lethal last season is because Stamkos and Kucherov played separately and teams had to be shutting down top 10 players in the League for ~40 minutes per game, as well as our improved power play which had much to do with Point). I don't know that I'm fully ready to trust Cirelli as a primary shutdown center, and Stamkos and Kucherov don't play that well together, making Stamkos as a #1C a difficult option. A Stamkos-Tkachuk pairing separate from the Point-Kucherov line would be absolutely wonderful and if there were any way to make the cap work, I would give CGY anything and everything not named Point, Kucherov, or Stamkos. But I don't think CGY wants anything like that. I'm still convinced that Kreider is the best physical top-six power winger we can realistically get.

Also, CGY, despite prolific offensive talent, solid defense and goaltending, and Tkachuk as a physical top-six presence, wasn't much better than us in the playoffs....
