No idea whats the hold up. 3 years 5M AAV when you have 15M in cap space and no one else to sign is a joke. Werenski would be an RFA at the end of that deal too. Get er done

werenski would have 1 year left of rfa. with arb rights. so he would just request arbitration and basically go straight to UFA status with this deal.

Mcavoy is in his own class because of the group1 rfa status, you cant lump the 3 together. It might screw Provorov in the aspect of AAV because i think he wants term, not a short deal hence the 10m aav thrown out there.

You're right but you know ZW's agent will compare him to Prov and McA. If he doesnt then he isnt a very good agent

chucky bright lights is going to get less aav and term than both of these guys. ide give mcavoy 5 x 3 right now and then extend him next year or the year after with a blow him out of the water offer.

After three years, the party that doesn't ask for arbitration gets a choice of one or two year term for arbitration. So CBJ might have Weresnki for another five years in that scenario. Other wise Werenski could sign for one year at 5m and then be a UFA I(a total of four years from now).
The reality is Werenski probably isn't going to get much more money than what Columbus can offer him...much like most RFAs. So if he wants long term guaranteed money, he's probably better to sign with CBJ. If he wants to " bet on himself" similar to what Trouba did, he will take the short term deals till UFA. Of course what is making the decision making so difficult for the clubs and the players is the apparent wild swings in a players worth as RFAs.

Part of the swing is the availability of good talent in that FA year at that position. Defense this year there werent really any UFAs that wowed you. Im still baffled tyler myers got 6m aav.

It was also the term for Myers. And then the Flyers went 7 X 7 for Hayes. I read that the Flyers were impressed with the interview they had with Hayes. WTF? They had watched him for years in the Atlantic Division didn't they know what type of player they were getting? It's like in a "regular" business. There is job promotion up for grabs. 10 people apply at abut the 5th or 6th best qualified candidate gets the jobs because some personnel people thought he he interviewed best. Nothing against Hayes,,,,but isn't that the worse reason to seemingly risk your cap for years because a player interviews well.? We have seen the same thing done when hiring coaches and GMs....."They did well in the interview process"
If you have read this...thanks for reading my rant (whether it was factual or not)

man that hayes contract was a joke. I would have loved hayes around 5 but at 7.1 for 7 years hard pass. he isnt that beneficial to the team that hes worth that. now i see why provorov asked for 10m lol
