Getting Lindholm

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2016-17 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 29, 2016
Published: Jun. 29, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If you're going to offer sheet a player, why not do it to a division rival for a young guy that you're convinced will be a #1 Dman?

7 mill per is a bit steep when compared with Lindholm's peers, but it would have to be a large salary to actually pry him away from the Ducks.

I'd much rather offer sheet Mackinnon because we need a centre for the future much more than a left handed d man right now.

Giving up 3 first round picks might make sense if you are a playoff competitive team looking for a final piece that gets you to the cup. For a rebuilding/retooling team like the Canucks, those picks (mid to high 1sts) are too valuable IMO.

I made a team previously where I had the Canucks signing MacKinnon to an offer sheet for 8.5 mill per. It would take an outrageous cap hit for Colorado to let him go for draft picks.
