Brodie alone is much more valuable than Risto.

You think so? I see them almost as a wash except Risto is under control for 3 more years.

It’s close but Brodie’s value may increase for having less term. Neither are good defensively.

I think Brodie +29 says different hes not the best but hes good would have to have a extension in place but I would also take out the2nd this year and add frolik

Buffalo would want a forward back not a defenseman or goalie because they have 5 goalies under NHL contracts and have 10 defenders that could play in the NHL that includes Risto

Any Frolik interest? Not sure what BUF's cap situation is like. Czarnik is also a lesser, cheaper option.

I like Frolik and Buffalo is over the cap right now so in moving out RIsto for him it would save them almost a mil in cap

With what? Opposing the idea of Buffalo not signing up for a deal giving them much better Dman and other very good assets? Whats embarassment about that?

I believe Risto has great value. He has 4 seasons of 40+ points, is 24 years old, 6' 4" and shoots right. His 5.4 million cap hit is reasonable for a Top 4 dman in todays NHL.

That's why I originally added the 2nd and 3rd rounders. Perhaps the 3rd would be conditional on Brodie resigning or completely removed if BUF could negotiate an extension with him.

I think Buffalo wins the talent value exchange, it saves Buffalo cap space, Buffalo does not need another GK, Frolik would be nice but would put Buffalo over the cap.
I would like to add Frolik to the deal, drop Gillies, this cuts the Flames cap.
All in all make the deal, then figure out the cap later.

That would be a big error

But they could also use a third LHD instead of Scandella or if Pilut needs more time in the AHL.

yes it is 12, but trading away a RHD for LHD, I would prefer a top 6 winger but a LHD does not hurt either.
