I assume you’re talking about Ristolainen being not valuable.
Ristolainen is underrated on this site. Yeah he’s not good defensively but he’s still a solid player who’d easily be the best on detroit’s blue line

Risto is certainly overpaid for what he brings, but he's not a bad player. He's a better option on defense than Trevor Daley.

I don't think Buffalo is getting "smacked hard" but I think Detroit definitely wins this trade. The Wings walk away with the best piece of the deal while Buffalo gets several less impactful players.

I wouldn't do it if I was Botterill.

Absolutely not. Risto is just like someone you should be very familiar with. A tall goofy missing tooth Oakland Raider hat wearing jabroni. Andrej Sustr.

I swear risto did something to this dude's family. He's the main toxic culprit for the risto hate. Always using the same lame lines for risto

I wouldn’t trade McIsaac, Svech and a 2nd for Risto.
And I wouldn’t have traded Mantha to pick later than Byram in this years draft. I like Cozens, but I don’t like this trade.

That's cool.

5v5 career numbers
P/60
Sustr: 0.67
Risto: 0.61
P1/60
Sustr: 0.36
Risto: 0.35

How about Game Score per 60
Sustr: 0.74
Risto: 0.18

Or maybe WAR/60
Sustr: 0
Risto: -0.03

I could see Betterall making this trade

Ristolainen, Rasmus more or less equal to Mantha, Anthony.
We could go round and round on the value of each player, but DET gets a RHD PP QB, BUF gets its second line winger. I think this is called a hockey trade.

Then it is Cozens, Dylan for Svechnikov, Evgeny; McIsaac, Jared and 2020 2nd round pick (WSH)
Svechnikov (19 overall in 2015) seems to another Alex Nylander IMO a real shot in the dark, but not showing a lot NHL potential.
McIsaac (36 overall in 2018) gets better every year 32, 47 and 62 pts the last 3 years. He appears to be headed for the NHL in the future.
2020 2nd, picks always look good to me.
Cozens, Dylan has an NHL future written on his resume. IMO Buffalo gets 3 fair chances of getting a future NHL player while trading away 1 good one.
So Buffalo gets a winger for Ristolainen and a bunch of maybes for Cozens.
I like the players Betterall drafts, but I also like the players Detroit drafts, only time will tell who wins the prospect half of the trade.
I think I would make the trade if I were the Buffalo GM.
Let's make a deal, cheers

You could be right, it all depends on the prospects and one will not know for several years.

LOL, I am only a fan of this trade is Svechnikov is a top 6 forward in the future.

I agree, Buffalo is trading from surplus (RHD) to fill a need top six forward. If Buffalo loses a little on the talent exchange, they make it up filling a hole in the line up. I think it would be a good move for Buffalo

OMW I agree, feds91stammer does not like any thing about Ristolainen. I know he has warts, but he brings a lot to the ice.

If Risto is all they were giving up, then I'd say go for it. Cozens is the best asset Buffalo has after Eichel and Dahlin. None of the pieces they're acquiring make up for his loss. The only way I'd include Cozens in a trade to Detroit is if Larkin was coming back.

I like Cozens, but I think you are underestimating Olofsson, Thompson, Asplund, Ruotsalainen.
Thompson played really well in Rochester after being sent down and the best player in the French connection 3 on 3.
I also think Svechnikov, and McIsaac will turn into NHL players, in particular McIsaac.
So Buffalo is trading a good center prospect for a good defenseman prospect and a 2nd and a project.
IMO Mantha will get his 30 goals this year, we add size up front, and give Buffalo two good lines.

Those are all good players. None of them have the ceiling that Cozens has. Change Mantha to Larkin and I'd do it.
