Dont see that as an issue, if Marner gets bridged now singing him later should be possible with the cap going up and likely market on long term set for him.

If there were teams lining up to give Marner the 11-12 million he's asking for, that's one thing...but Marner is kind of negiotating against himself.
Once the season starts the amount of money available is going to have to be reduced because of pro-rated contracts.

That Ceci deal probably needs a better prospect. DeAngelo seems interesting in terms of where the Leafs D core is.

I thought you wanted to see how Ceci does? However, I like the idea of adding Deangelo... Although, your idea of going after Vatanen and DeMelo is growing on me.

DeAngelo imo is worth dumping Ceci over.
@palhal reminded me we cant get in bidding war over UFA.

This is creative option.
You dont like DeAngelo????

I'm not saying me disagree that DeAngelo is worth dumping Ceci for I just thought you wanted to give Ceci a shot is all. I said I like DeAngelo. You and Pal are right we can't get into a bidding war, but if someone values winning they might be willing to come here knowing our financial situation for a little less like Duchene did with Nashville. Only time will tell how all of this plays out.

It's easy to say dump Krieder or whatever other big salary but the options now are more limited with most teams right near the cap.
Teams may have NYR over a barrel for cap space.

Same as Tampa and Colorado, RE Point and Rantanen.
Hell throw in Columbus and Philly, RE Werenski and Provanov.

Easy there. Leafs have 10.5 million in cap space. Does NYR have that? So who is really over a barrel here?

We wouldn't be having this discussion if NYR had 10.5 million in cap space.

with marner commanding 10m+ this is a much worse situation then nyr is in. Once again you cannot sign marner until season begins and even now cant afford deangelo

Commanding is one thing, getting is another.

Reality, come to the light.
