Players have to agree to an offer sheet. Nobody agrees to going to Winnipeg. So no, Habs fans wouldn't worry about that

But danault is a hometown guy and he is 4 years younger. Paying danault 5.75 millions for is 27-32 years if way better than paying 30-35 of backlund

Probably true; however, I'd rather sell him as an asset now (for more than we paid), and deal with Backlund's salary problem after the expansion draft.
I think both given the same role (shutdown 3rd C for MTL), Backlund is an adequate short-term (2-3 year) replacement.
