I really doubt Arizona or Perlini would be interested in a contract

We'll see! This will be year 2 and more importantly...I think you're forgetting that come TDL...cap is a huge issue. $600k (hawks can easily eat half) for a 60 point puck moving dman...worth more than gold

This was only his 1st full season in the league, and hes 27, teams love cheap talent, but not more than they love certainty

Last year until Christmas gus suck badly, he had a tremendous 2 nd half but people mist calm down on him. He might put up 30 point this year and no one would be surprise of that. There a lot of players that had one good season and never show up again after. So he doesn’t old much value than you think team
Are all aware of that. The guys hasn’t proof anything yet

Gus was brought up as pro 3 years ago and bounced between the AHL and NHL first two years. That's completely normal for a guy to do that in his first two seasons especially on D. I think everyone needs to watch him play this year. If you watched every game since he was brought up in the 17/18 season till now he has been the most dramatic improvement on the team...he keeps getting better and better every 10 games or so. If he continues on this pace, there is no way the Hawks move him especially if they are in a playoff run. The question now is, what is his ceiling? At 27, he doesn't have a lot of miles on his skates which is to his benefit. He should be peaking this season.

Oh. Well, yeah, at the trade deadline, sure. Just put that in the description, or we'll hack it apart like it's a summer trade. By the deadline, Arizona has some idea of how good their first pick will be, and how good Gustafson's season will be, to say nothing of Perlini. By then, sure, if the stars align, this is one possible future. Got it. Carry on.

There are very easy explanations to all of this. Coach Q is NOTORIOUS for not trusting young Dmen. A.) He's had Keith Seabs Hammer and Oduya...so why would he? B) Nick Leddy, TVR, Gus, Stephen John...just off the top of my head...are casualties that have all seriously contributed else where. Not sure how many more examples we need to prove this. So when Q was fired...JC took over and what do you know??? This kid can play! Getting ice time works wonders. You say he hasn't proven anything, but he has proven that under JC he scored 55 points in 65 games. He took the literally LAST place Power Play to 15th and if you read between the lines there...to start out last and jump 16 spots means you're clearly better than 15th.

So yes, I agree it's one season. Come this TDL he'll have ~50 more games under his belt. I 100% do believe and expect he'll continue to lead the charge on the PP and get 23+ min a game. There's zero reason that with 1 full season under his belt that he can't get 60 points again. He only got 3/4 of a season with Colliton. Now consider a full season. Oh and let's not forget a $600k salary. LITERLALY every single team in the playoffs can afford that cap and will be looking into his services. Because if you're not at least looking...then you're not doing your job as a GM. You need to at least look and when there's 16 teams looking. 1 team will pay a high price. Not saying it has to be YOUR team, but one of them will.

It's not my post, but I chimed in because Gus is a very interesting case study for GMs right now.

The point here is that is value isn’t that high, not that is na valuable to team. Ad for leddy, and both where much younger when they where traded and they where trade because they add no room for them at this time with oduya and haljmarsson taking big minutes behing keith and seabrook. For johns and tvr they aren’t top 4 defenceman so calm
Down. This isn’t a good point. And coach Q like you said have introduced haljmarsson and leddy to is line up so he was never afraid of bringing younsgter him. Plus gus is 27 so that make no sense of saying the queneville wasnt p’aying him because he was young. And maybe at the deadline this year id chicago isnt in playoff and he add another gold year he would brings a 1st but right now no gm do that trade. And that my prediction for this season he won’t break the 40 point mark

I still say Coach Q is one of the best in the game. He does have his flaws as every person does. His single biggest flaw BY FAR is not allowing young dmen to develop. I named 4 off the top of my head, but I do follow the Hawks a pretty darn closely. How about Kempny? Forsling? Or better yet, how about the guys he chose to play OVER these 6 people I mentioned. Guys like Brandon Manning, Brandon Davidson, Rob Scuderi, Christian Erhoff… I mean explain those moves over playing and developing young Dmen.

I started this off with "We'll see!" I think 40 points is easily achievable.

Barret jackman won the calder under queneville. But queneville isn’t the one who trade all these young defenceman it was bowman and in that time chicago ad one of the best d core in the league. So
The reason is pretty simple to me 3 stanley cup. And for those last year hawks start to have young d prospect but in 2015-16 16-17 the hawks was one of the worst prospect farm. Stan bowman add done a good job last three year but this is the biggest reason why queneville was playing old spunk on defence. Because he was never afraid of bringing young talent, bit to bring young talent you need young talent
