Columbus Blue Jackets Season Preview

Created by: AlphaHockey65
Team: 2019-20 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2019
Published: Aug. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Jackets lost a lot of players this offseason. Duchene, Panarin, Bob and Dzingel are all off to new teams.
This leaves the Jackets with some holes in the forward group.
Getting Nyqust was good but he's no panarin.
The goalie tandem between Elvis and Korpisalo will be cool to watch but overall I don't think the Jackets are a playoff team. Imo they need a bit of retooling before competing again.
The main goal for management should be to sign Werenski (rumour was he wanted a bridge deal @ $6+ mil).

This is an OK team if PLD can take the next step in his development. Their season success likely depends on Elvis being the real deal. If he doesn't work out, at least they have a ton of cap space to acquire an established 1G midway through the season.

Z wants a bridge at around 5.5 AAV. And you will see a lot of young guys in the lineup this year. Thanks for counting them out from the start though, just adds more fuel to the fire

Who do you mean by young guys?
I included Texier who I think is great btw. Robinson will get playing time as well because honestly I see Dubinsky sitting a lot of games this season.

There's a lot of guys who I think will step up.
Anderson, Dubois and Wennberg are my candidates as they have the skillset to produce much more.

Foudy is good too but maybe he sticks one year in the AHL to get accustomed?
He's only 19, no need to rush him

I think he’ll get his 9 games in the NHL before they decide what to do with him. He can’t play in the AHL, so it’ll either be NHL or back to London
