Scenarios leading to Opening night

Created by: GMBB
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 27, 2019
Published: Aug. 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Loui gets pushed out of a spot and gets sent to Utica.
Not sure if he will report or not. He could walk away and then go get a contract in Europe but his salary won't be as much as he will make here so again not sure where his head will be at whether to stay in NA or not.

2. Juolevi makes a case to stick with the big club.
Having another Rookie LHD man on the team wouldn't be that big of an issue. The problem lies in who will be the RHD pairings for Hughes and Juolevi.

3. CGY wants to get something for Brodie (Who is a good D man) and I know they want to keep Bennett so Canucks have to offer something good for a trade for both to go through. Brodie and Bennett for Stecher and Baertschi seems to check a lot of boxes for both teams. Stecher is younger and will be a good addition CGY would keep. Baertschi a fairly cost effective top 6 winger to play with Tkachuk and Backlund. The cost savings for this trade is about a 1-1.5 mill no salary retention on Baertschi (Option to retain some if need be).

4. Bringing Brodie in makes Tanev expendable. Would be a great D pairing for Hughes pushing Benn Down to play with Juolevi. So this means Tanev can finally fetch us a younger RHD to bring up in the system. Insert Colorado. They could use a reliable RHD man along with Johnson to play with their young D studs. So adding Tanev who will most likely play 3rd pair will allow the likes of Byram to flourish on that Left side. While Makar would likely play with Zadorov and Girard with Johnson.

No idea if this flies but I don't see why COL would not be willing to bring in a Vet to help Johnson with Byram, Makar and Girard

1. Does loui know where his head is now? literally not figuratively.
2. I agree he makes the club.
3. Nucks have to add to this deal.
4. No chance avs do a timmins for tanev swap.

3. Nucks have to add to this deal.

What do you think? 2nd or 3rd rounder?

4. No chance avs do a timmins for tanev swap

Well something has to give because they just acquired Rosen and I think he would make COL over Timmins.

For #3, if you're acquiring Bennett to be your dedicated 3C, maybe Gaudette could be worked in as the sweetener. Bennett's already a good 3rd liner and the Canucks still have Madden coming in the pipeline.

nah timmins will make roster this year. avs wanted him to be on the roster before makar. they had the timeline timmins last year makar this year but timmins missed last year with a concussion so that moved makars timeline up and timmins back. they really like timmins. i think rosen is a depth add and nothing further.
