MIN trade

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 27, 2019
Published: Aug. 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The trade is basically;
Boeser = Dumba
Tanev (50% retained) = 2nd round pick

Dumba is still young enough that he fits in with the rest of VAN's young core and drastically improves their already improved blueline. Boeser gets to turn into a hometown superstar and stay close to family in the process. Tanev (when healthy) fills a top 4 RHD spot for the year in MIN.

Nucks defense looks great, but their offense is mediocre at best.

To be fair this team doesn't look any better.

I'd rather keep Boeser, not because Dumba isn't good but because Boeser is the sniper that top 6 needs more than another dman IMO. Plus selling Tanev with 50% for a 2nd is undervalue. (That's coming from a guy that doesn't like Tanev that much too)

Agreed, it's talent-in, talent-out. But it does shift the talent for VAN to their blueline, which is still the weak link of the team despite the offseason additions. Having Dumba and Hughes on the ice for most of each game on different pairings would be really dynamic. Losing a player like Boeser up front is obviously a huge blow, but the additions of Miller and Ferland should soften that in the short term, and hopefully long term the likes of Podkolzin and Hoglander will be able to contribute offensively.

I also don't 'like' losing Boeser, I think he's going to be a star. It was more about finding a better talent balance on the team. As for Tanev's value, the only way he fetches more is if he can stay healthy all season which he historically hasn't) and is dealt to a team at the deadline. Then maybe VAN could pry a 1st out of a desperate team.

Yeah I hear ya. The way I look at it though, if you take Boeser out the RW's and see what's left, Miller's a 50 pt guy. Baertschi is an absolute mystery. 40 pointer in a good season. Eriksson...welp, Virtanen on the 4th line equals less than 10 goals.

Forget Dumba and the Nucks still have Tanev, Myers and Stecher, no superstar there but all solid contributors.

The only thing this team needs IMO is time. Can't force anything at the moment and trading studs for studs is only shuffling the deck chairs of the Titanic.
