I think the Sabres trade is interesting because it does seem like they're trying to offload Risto while his trade value is high. Apparently, his career is seeing remarkably similar trajectory to Jack Johnson's, so voodoo magic says they need to offload him asap.

I'd be careful trading for Risto. This trade could swing heavily in one team's favor or the other, unless all the players end up flopping, which is nearly impossible.

I'm also not sure that the Habs would trade for Kulikov, but that looks like one of those trades where it's "any team who'll take him for a moderate return".

Feel like Kulikov would be happy to play with either Weber or Petry!

And I think Risto would be a good fit in Winnipeg, I think value's close!

Reinhart is a much more consistent player than Laine and I wouldn't even trade them 1 for 1

I disagree, Laine's good, but since he does little on the ice except scoring, and he's addicted to Fortnite *facepalm*, I think value's quite fair here. Reinhart is a good young forward, more responsible and Risto's a good young RD that could eventually replace Byfuglien (that'S probably a stretch but still).

I don't think it's that far!

except the "risto's a good young RD that could eventually replace Byfuglien" part. Risto is maybe a second pairing guy. would be better suited as a 3rd pair pp specialist. Buffalo overpaid him because they thought he was a 1D and he just sucks at actual defense. Reinhart is nothing without eichel and skinner above him. Laine in a bad year just put up 30 goals...

This week, Laine's camp submitted numbers for 2 and 3 year "bridge" type deals, which, as I understand, have a more reasonable cap number than the long-term contract AAV number they currently submitted to the Jets in June.

I like Reinhart but if Laine's shooting percentage goes back to what it was prior to last season he's a 40+ goal scorer. Buffalo would take a 40 goal scorer over a 50-60 point player every day

Laine does more than just score. he's an underrated playmaker and has started to be more physical. He's 21 and can learn to be better D. What teams are gonna pay for is his potential and that, IMO< is through the roof.
