As big of a fan of Nylander as Im, I dont think he would outpace Marner. He might get really close tho. Marner wouldnt be kicking himself because he made more money than with longer termed deal.

If Nylander, who is the other high end RW on the team outscores him (I don't think its impossible, I think it is almost a guarantee to happen at 5v5), would that not mean he is the direct comparable on the team? How can Marner demand an elite centre status money level if there is a better winger on the team? Not saying Nylander is better but I think they are way closer to even than Matthews and Marner.

Yeah, I'd personally still think this deal is stupid. I think Marner should get no more than 7 on a 3 year deal. If you want close to 10 he has to go to 6 years minimum. That is what I think Dubas wants as well.

Logically if that happens he couldn't... but as we have seen from Marner's camp, logic isn't really a negotiating tactic.

Marner was scoring at above a point a game place in the second half of the year before last. Much of that was from PP points though. Marner and Nylander are both better than 60 point wingers but I think they are far closer than most seem to think.

The whole leaking to the media and showmanship he's using are just garbage. Be a professional, you aren't the rock and this isn't ballers. What pushed me over the edge was when the Leafs leaked their contract offers (3 at under 8, 6 at under 10 and 8 at under 11) and Ferris responded with we want 10.5 x 3. That is just a joke.
