Didn't Carter already threaten to retire of he were traded outside of California. Or something along those lines?

Yep. He's not going anywhere unless he changes his mind.

No he didn't. He actually directly refuted these rumors in his end of season interview.

Value in the trade isn't bad. Would be nice to reunite Evans with Cal Petersen.

The real question is would Alzner go for it? He can designate a 7-team no-trade list, and it's a safe bet that the second worst team in the league in one of the highest taxed states in the US is probably on that list.

You would have to think playing in NHL over the AHL would be what he wants.

Putting aside the issue of whether Carter could or would veto this trade, why would we exchange a semi-productive player for a completely worthless player, just to "save" $500,000 in cap space? Is Montreal's second and a prospect sufficient compensation?

I'm not sure that Alzner makes the team in LA either. There are certainly weaker defensive teams out there than the Kings. Clague and MacDermid are both better options on the left side than Alzner. It's more than likely if the Kings do this trade, it will be with the intention of stashing Alzner in Ontario.

I don't think he's really that bad. I'm sure there is more to it then a bad NHL D-man.

If Alzner thinks he has a shot at the NHL, he does it immediately.
