He good! But I think Leafs would either want Chabot or both Tkachuk and Batherson. Ill add that Batherson is doing amazing things at age of 21 in NHL. Pretty similar stats to 19-yr old Nylander. He is a good one!

As much as I knock marner the value isn’t “off” and I honestly could see marner doing good in Ottawa and fitting well to be the face of the franchise. I’d say chabot being a defender which are such a commodity is a no. Just because if you’re Dorian (albeit dumb at times) you could have chabot-brannstrom-docker-Thompson-lajoie as your d core, the next Nashville almost (Fabbro Josi elkholm Ellis, used to include Subban) except these kids will all be 20-24. Chabot Or Tkachuk is the next captain. Tkachuk + maybe like Formenton (still an amazing prospect who I really like almost more than batherson) plus a pick I could see Ottawa not hating but Ottawa loves Tkachuk so idk.

Tzachuk first season after he was drafted....was 22 goals and 45 point in the NHL. (and he didn't have Tavares as a centre) Marner...was in junior.
If I'm Ottawa, Tzachuk for Marner might be fair. Leafs take the 9m in cap differential for two years and build their team for a Cup run.

Not an outrageous trade, especially with a 2022 1st.

Super adorable. Considering all aspects of their games, accomplishments according to age, and current price tags, I wouldn't trade Tkachuk for Marner even if it were 1 for 1.

Accomplishments according to age? So Marner is worse than Tkachuk because Leafs chose to keep him in juniors and Marner is bit older and needs contract? Oh **** that.. Nail Yakupov for Blake Wheeler in 2013. Yakupov had 31 points in 47 games which is basically 55 point season if whole season was played then. Wheeler was biggest name RFA in 2013. Not comparing Yakupov and Wheeler to Tkachuk and Marner, but your logic makes very little sense.

You're on drugs. Tkachuk and Batherson are both untouchable, and Ottawa will never trade a 1st again. Also Ottawa isn't in a position to pay Marner his ridiculous asking price.

My logic is sound. WTF would OTT give up a 19 y/o 4th OA draft pick who netted 22 goals in his rookie season + a guy who, as a rookie, lead the AHL in points for a good part of the year + a 1st round draft pick... in return for ONE guy who's going to cost them over $10M per season and has zero grit to him. Ottawa isn't going to be a legit contender for another 3 to 4 years. We have no need or desire to screw our own rebuild for a Marner type player. HARD PASS ON THAT OFFER.

The sens would be better served with Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson. Having two guys who can be 1st line wingers than one guy who is a really good 1st line winger. Marner isn't a 90 point guy without Tavares, so why would Ottawa give up two young superstars AND a 1st for the privilege of paying Marner more than he's worth?
