I don’t think Laine to New York Islanders makes sense for either team. NYI have a few good prospects coming up and having the Boychuk, Ladd, clusterf**k, cizikas, Leddy contracts already kill them to give Barzal the 10+ he will get. Adding another 10+ million contract would put them in cap hell. This deal is more quantity over quality. They’d more want one of Dobson or Pulock + instead of Leddy +

Seriously, all you WPG fans claiming it's Pulock/Dobson or bust for Laine need to chill out. You're not getting a #1 D-man or a potential #1 D-man for Laine. I get that he is good and can score goals, but the guy is as one-dimensional as the come. He doesn't play D, he doesn't play on the PK and from all reports, there is some question about his dedication. Not to mention the fact that it's already been widely reported that Laine doesn't want to be in WPG long term... all of these things lead to the price for him other teams would be willing to pay as not being that high, especially if they are then going to have to sign him a large contract.

The proposal in this AGM is off, yes, but to counter with Pulock or Dobson or no deal, is just asinine. One of the following scenarios should be more than enough to get Laine;

Leddy, Wilde, Ho-Sang and a 1st or something like Mayfield, Wahsltrom, Wilde and a 1st... and if it's not, then I think you're going to be sorely upset when Laine goes for something similar.

In fact, there is already a rumor out there that says Laine for Mayfield, Bellows, Wilde, a 1st and a 2nd, so be prepared to be let down lol
