Yup I believe they do. Leafs would need to add.

For the 100th time. You do not trade a top offensive player for a defensive defenseman. What a devastating impact this would have on leafs.

Canes decline on the bases that nobody wants to pay Marner what he's asking for

So, tell us, what is Marner's contract? Or do the Canes give the Leafs two top regulars for player who won't sign with them either.

Yaaaaaa I dont think you understand how good the other two are and cost effective. The leafs would likely make this deal immediately. Gives them even more money to spend also

Dubas needs to tell Marner if he doesn't sign before the exhibition games start than he gets traded. Marner's wish to stay a Leaf will make him accept the latest offer.

The leafs would never ever even consider that trade for even a nano second

That is my thought, both those guys are locked up long term, too team friendly deals. Yes losing Marner hurts like hell, but Teuvo is a very talented 25 year old winger, for about half the contract, and the Leafs are cap crunched, so looking for options makes sense. Teuvo has outstanding possession metrics, scores, and has 5 years at 5.4, which is very good, for a very good player. Pesce is a quality d, and helps where the Leafs have a big need... unless you love Ceci more than reasonably. I would still do it, as a leafs fan, with big sweetener added.

What if Marner agrees to 10M x 7, and Dubas throws in Liljegren, Holl and a 3rd?

Then the Leafs just sign Marner at 10m X7 and keep him.

I really don't understand all these Marner trades. Teams wouldn't offer a contract much different what the Leafs are offering. Carolina is one team that has done a good job at getting two of their RFAs signed Teravainen and Aho. But there are other teams Tampa, Rangers, Flyers, Jets, Flames who are likely to over the cap with the expected long term salaries their RFAs might sign for. Then Leafs, Columbus, Colorado and Vancouver still have cap room but an unsigned player.
