Division Winners Maybe

Created by: kopiino
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 2, 2019
Published: Sep. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Offersheeting Laine allows the Habs to acquire one of the best, consistent goal scorers in the league to really help Kotkaniemi develop into a star.

Getting rid of Alzners awful contract and picking up a great 2nd pairing defenseman will help with the cap situation and the team in general.

Morgan Rielly will be hard to move on from, but his contract is a little bit too big to deal with for the team right now. He would fit into the Canucks defensive core nicely.

Pay the Sens to take Armia.

I would offer 5 years. Think Laine signs it and Winnipeg has a lot of thinking to do before they match.

Petry is 20 time better than Connor Murphy
Armia is the best 3rd line right winger in the league, why trade him ? He can fetch a 3rd alone lol
You want Ryan Poehling, it’s going to be Kane DeBrincat Dach or Beaudin coming the other way.
MTL doesn’t have to trade Alzner, they will buyout is contract next year IF they need too.

No one is giving a 2nd and a 3rd for Reilly, he's worth a 3rd at most but more likely a 4th, it's Mike Reilly btw not Morgan.. Lol

You don't have to pay to move Armia, every team in the league would take Armia right now for a 3rd.

That Hawks trade is, well, not the way cap dump trades tend to work.. Lol

So Hawks bury Alzner at cap hit for 3.5m and then have to retain 1.9m for Murphy. Sure 5.4m in dead money ain't happening.

Habs are not using Poehling to dump Alzner.

In what universe is Reilly worth a 2nd and 3rd? His mother’s? More like a 4th or 5th.

Armia has value. Worth more than Reilly is in trade.

so you're saying Morgan Reilly's only worth a 2nd and a 3rd?

thats what your attempt at a joke implies in context
just wanted to clarify it was a misscue not an intentional statement of value before saying anything :P

aside from everything else wrong with this that was posted above, I would just like to bring attention to the fact that you used the word "consistent" to describe Patrik Laine tears of joy

he's 6th in goals scored since entering the league so his statement is accurate
had he say consistent player or point producer you'd have a point but he said goal scorer which is factual

no its not, look at month by month. Laine has the longest hot and cold streaks ive ever seen. Nothing consistent about that.

if depends on if you understand basic english or not .

there's only 6 players with more goals in the last 3 years
Ovechkin
Kucherov
Mcdavid
Tavares
Mathews

That's it , that's all
you gotta be pretty oblivious to not understand what a Consistent Goal Scorer

before you argue like its possible to score 82 goals a year in todays NHL you should realize
Ovechkin who's the leagues best has 23 goals more then Laine over 3 years for 7.6 goals per year more on average
the 2 players after Laine are Brad Marchand and Sydney Crosby who have 1-2 goals less over 3 years then Laine

Laine's a consistent Goal Scorer , no one with any hockey knowledge would challenge that .
Laine's Attitude,Playmaking vision and ability to be anything more then a 1 dimensional goal scorer is what people generally criticize Laine for .
Laine's got his issues but scoring goals isnt one of them as the Only regular 50 goal scorer is Ovechkin and that wont change
Does that mean Laine at 21 wont grow into a more complete player over time ? not at all it just means today this is what we know about how he measures up versus todays top goal scorers .

bruh. google the word consistent. Im not arguing that Laine cant score. Obvoiusly he can. Im saying that he doesnt score consistently...

Consistent

1. acting or done in the same way over time, especially so as to be fair or accurate.
2. unchanging in nature, standard, or effect over time

synonyms: constant, regular, even, uniform, orderly, unchanging, unvarying, unswerving, undeviating, unwavering, unfluctuating

now lets look at Laine's goal scoring last season:

October: 3 goals
November: 18 goals
December: 3 goals
January: 1 goal
February: 4 goals
March: 1 goal
April: 0 goals

Do you want me to make you a graph too? or can you read how inconsistent that is? He also had goalless streaks of: 15 games, 12 games, 6 games (3 times over), 5 games (2 times over), and 3 games (2 times over).

Im not denying that Laine can score, but if you cant see that he is inconsistent then i dont know what to tell you.

EDIT: the graph didnt load into the comment but heres the link https://imgur.com/gallery/de0FXax
