This would be ideal, essentially making a lateral move at backup goalie and making a strong stable of D prospects even better. It'd depend on how highly GMJR regards Addison (Corey Pronman has him as Pitt's best prospect), but I feel like GMBM could make the sale.

You could swap Stephenson for boyd ? That saves some $$$

Imo

Djoo + Luca jo or a 2nd should get up Addison

Jarry = 3rd or 4th.

Tossed a 2nd and Stephenson to avoid arguement

Djoo was a similar type player at his age. That and penguins imo don’t care about prospects bc they traded the so often.

Oh yeah, value isn't bad, I'm just saying PIT wouldn't be able to fit them either lol

I’m not exactly sure how much room penguins have but they could send JJ to the ahl and save 900k in caps space and that pays for djoo basically

Pens are over the cap and have to sign Petterson. It isn’t a bad trade, just don’t think the pens could do it and the ELC that Addison is on will be too valuable when he hopefully makes the roster next year.

I like it, just need to find a way for Pitt to jump JJ into a pit. Just imagine what could have been if there was no JJ or Tanev signings. Nearly 7 million on a 4th liner and a 7th (at best) D

Sometimes defensemen develop more slowly than forwards. If Johansen has basically zero value, keep him.

Yeah, but they trade prospects (and picks) for players that will "help" win (trade potential and tomorrow for today).

This trade is mostly just Addison for Johansen. Neither of which are likely to make any impact for a few seasons. Addison is the better offensive Dman, but I am not sure about his actual D, but he is also right handed: Addison > Johansen

Jarry is a (will be a) very solid backup. He got sent down last year because he was waiver exempt and DeSmith wasn't. Otherwise Jarry would have stayed up. I would rather have Jarry in net than Copley. But I might also rather just call up Vanecek or even just start giving Samsonov NHL experience as opposed to AHL volume.

Djoos: is a okay 3rd pair guy. He is as good as he will be. Unfortunately, the Pens have a bunch of 3rd pair D. This trade and signing Pettersson would give them 9 NHL D (Trotman will go to WBS). The Pens need to move a D now, so after this trade that would really need to move 2 D.
Stephenson: is a dime a dozen 4th liner. He would be last on the depth chart. I think Pittsburgh would rather not take him due to their roster/cap situation.
2nd: is a pick...

This entire thing just boils down to how both sets of management view Addison. Actually... With the Penguin most likely losing Schultz this year, and Letang's health always in question, they most likely want to keep the offensive minded, right handed, 19 year old. I do not think that "Addison" specifically has a TON of value... but I think that he has considerable value to the Pens specifically because of their outlook on offensive D-men in general and right handed one's as well. I think to them Addison is probably more valuable than Johansen + 2nd. I'm not saying the HE is more valuable than Johansen+2nd, but to the Pens looking forward he probably is.

I honestly would offer either Luca jo or djoo and a 2nd for him. Djoo style of play fit the mold of the penguins. He’s as close to a Nate Schmidt 2.0 that I can think of. He played 40 games last year bc he had a major injury. His last full year he won a cup playing next to orpik. That’s pretty impressive imo.
